65% of consumers plan to buy gifts on Children's Day in the Campos Gerais
Children's Day in the Campos Gerais will have 65.4% of consumers purchasing gifts in 2026. The average spending will be R$ 164.80.

The Children’s Day in the Campos Gerais is expected to move the trade in 2026. The intention to purchase Paraná, which brings together Campos Gerais and Guarapuava, reached 65.4%, compared to 44.7% registered in 2025. The growth was 20.7 percentage points in just one year.
The numbers are part of the Purchasing Intention Survey for Children’s Day, conducted by the Federation of Trade in Goods, Services and Tourism of Paraná (Fecomércio PR), in partnership with Sebrae/PR.
The regional progress exceeds that recorded in the state average. In Paraná, the share of consumers who intend to buy gifts increased from 48.1% in 2025 to 63.9% this year.
According to the Business Development coordinator of Fecomércio PR, Rodrigo Schmidt, despite the growth in the number of consumers willing to present, the behavior in purchases shows greater concern with the family budget.
“There are more people willing to give, but the consumer remains attentive to the expenses. The preference for spot payment and the search for prices on the internet demonstrate a more rational posture,” he assesses.
The region is among the biggest intentions to buy the Paraná
With 65.4% of intent to purchase, the Central Region appears among the largest indices recorded in the state.
South and Southwest lead, with 77%. Curitiba followed, with 68.6%. Then come Central Region, with 65.4%; Northwest, with 64.7%; West, with 62.9%; North, with 61.3%; and East, with 54.2%.
Toys lead preference
Toys remain the top choice for Children’s Day in the region, mentioned by 64% of consumers.
Clothes and footwear are 33%, while educational games are 31%. Books and similar products were cited by 15%.
Recreational tours appear at 6%, while sweets, treats and electronics received 5% of the mentions each.
For the Sebrae/PR Trade and Services coordinator, Suelen Pedroso, the scenario creates opportunities especially for small businesses.
According to her, retailers should intensify the dissemination of prices, promotions and products, especially on social networks and digital channels, during the days before the celebration.
Fathers and mothers are the main buyers
The survey also shows that 48% of gifts will be purchased by parents. Uncles and aunts appear next, with 35%, while grandparents represent 24% and godparents 11%.
Of the consumers surveyed, 37% intend to give two children. Another 18% will buy for one child, 16% for three, 17% for four and 12% for more than four.
The decision on the present will be mainly with adults. In the Central Region, 75.8% say they will choose for themselves what to buy.
Other 17.2% must decide together with the child, while only 7.1% will leave the choice entirely in the hands of the little ones.
Average ticket reaches R$ 164.80
The average value for presents has practically not changed compared to last year.
The average ticket increased from R$ 163.26 in 2025 to R$ 164.80 in 2026, growth of 0.9%.
The value is also close to the state average, estimated at R$ 171.32.
Pix leads payment methods
Another highlight of the research is the growth of spot payments.
In the Central Region, spot modalities increased from 42.2% in 2025 to 68.4% this year. On the other hand, term purchases decreased from 60.9% to 38.8%.
Pix took the lead, being mentioned by 34.7% of consumers. Last year, it was just 14.1%.
The split credit card appears with 22.4%, followed by the debit card, with 20.4%. The credit card paid in full at maturity amounts to 17.3%, money represents 15.3% and carnet or creditor, 2%.
Consumers will research before buying
The price search will also be an important step before choosing the present.
About 74% of consumers in the Central Region intend to compare values before closing the purchase.
81.1% of those surveyed will use the internet, while 18.9% intend to visit establishments in person to compare prices.
Shopping centers gain space
The survey also identified change in the locations chosen for purchases.
Street commerce, considering downtown and neighborhood stores, fell from 56.9% of consumers in 2025 to 45.7% this year.
The Internet has risen from 46.2% to 42.4%.
In the opposite direction, shopping centers recorded growth. The preference for these establishments increased from 15.4% to 22.8%, an increase of 7.4 percentage points.
In Paraná, the internet appears as the main place of purchase, with 50.6%, while street trade totals 43.9%.
Majority will leave purchase for the last 15 days
Much of the trade movement is expected to take place near Children’s Day, celebrated on October 12.
According to the survey, 70% of consumers in the Central Region will buy gifts in the 15 days before the date.
The largest concentration will be in the week immediately preceding, a period chosen by 52% of consumers.
Another 18% intend to buy between eight and 15 days before the celebration, while 11% say they can leave the purchase for Children’s Day itself.
Only 13% plan to purchase gifts between 16 days and a month before, and 6% more than a month in advance.
Price will be decisive
The low price appears to be the main factor influencing the purchase decision for 18% of consumers in the Central Region.
Promotions and product quality appear soon after, both with 17%.
Seller service and child preference were mentioned by 12% of the respondents each, while cost-benefit appears with 9%.
Discounts were pointed out by 5%, product exclusivity and payment flexibility by 4% each, and delivery or shipping conditions by 2%.
The figures indicate a favourable scenario for the trade of the Campos Gerais, but also show that the consumer should do a lot of research before opening the wallet. For shopkeepers, competitive price, digital advertising and promotions are expected to gain even more importance in the coming weeks.
