A 53-year-old pedestrian dies hit by truck on PR-151 in Castro
The accident happened in the afternoon of this Tuesday (19) and involved a Scania truck; rescue teams confirmed the victim's death at the scene.
A hitch on PR-151 in Castro, in the Campos Gerais, killed a 53-year-old pedestrian on Monday afternoon. The incident was recorded at around 4:45 p.m., at kilometer 288.7 of the highway, involving a Scania R440 truck that was heading towards Piraí do Sul.
According to information from the State Road Police (PRE), the truck, with Joaquim Távora’s plates, was traveling in the direction of Castro–Piraí do Sul when the hitch occurred. The circumstances that led to the accident have not yet been clarified.
Teams from the Mobile Emergency Service (Samu) and the Integrated Emergency Trauma Service (Siate) were called to provide relief. However, the professionals found that the pedestrian was already lifeless at the site.
Driver and passenger were not injured.
The truck was driven by a 37-year-old man and was carrying a 36-year-old passenger. According to the police report, the two occupants suffered no injuries and provided medical attention.
The accident occurred on a stretch of the PR-151 that integrates the road connection between Castro and Piraí do Sul, municipalities of the region of Campos Gerais.
The State Road Police were notified of the occurrence at 17:20, and the team responsible arrived at the site at 17:56 to carry out the procedures for attending and registering the accident.
Civilian and criminal police were activated
After the confirmation of the death, the Civil Police, the Criminalistics and the Medical-Legal Institute (IML) were activated for the appropriate procedures.
The work of the teams includes the surveys necessary to clarify the circumstances of the hitch and perform the procedures related to the victim.
The occurrence remained in attendance at the time of the preparation of the report sent by the State Road Police.
The circumstances of the hitch on PR-151, in the municipality of Castro, should be clarified after the completion of the surveys carried out by the responsible bodies.
