An accident involved a VW Gol car carrying five people and a Ford Ranger pickup truck, which was being driven by a drunk driver who was arrested

On Sunday night, a head-on collision at kilometer 413 of BR-373 in Candoi between a VW Gol car with Carambeí plates and a Ford Ranger pickup truck with Candoi plates left five people dead. The Ranger driver was arrested.
According to the information of the Federal Highway Police (PRF), the car was following from Foz do Jordão, while the truck was traveling in the opposite direction, coming from Candói, when there was a frontal collision.
Three occupants of the car were killed on the spot - two children and their mother. The other two occupants - a baby and his father - were rescued but died in the hospital.
The driver of the van fled the crash site before the arrival of the PRF, leaving behind a passenger, who was rescued to the hospital in Candoi.
During the attendance of the occurrence, the police team received information that the driver of the truck had sought medical help in Candoi.
As a result, federal road police moved to the hospital unit, locating the driver. When conducting the inspection procedures, it was found that the driver did not have a CNH and was also intoxicated, proven by the breathalyzer, which resulted in an amount of 0.54 mg of alcohol per liter of air expelled, a value sufficient to characterize the crime of drunkenness at the wheel.
After discharge from the hospital, the 18-year-old driver was arrested for the crimes of drunkenness at the wheel, driving without a driver’s license, generating danger of damage and escape from the accident site, and was taken to the Civil Police in Guarapuava, to register the occurrence.
