ACIPG reports 18 theft cases and calls for security in the Paraguizinho region of Ponta Grossa

The security in the Paraguizinho region of Ponta Grossa mobilizes the Commercial, Industrial and Business Association of Ponta Grossa (ACIPG) since the beginning of August. According to the entity, merchants from the region known as Paraguay have registered approximately 18 bulletins of occurrence in the last month.

The records were related to crimes against life, robberies, robberies and armed robberies against commercial establishments. The data were presented by the Director of Public Security of ACIPG, Cláudio Pogere, based on the reports and documents sent by the shopkeepers.

Given the situation, the association began to organize meetings with merchants, security forces, municipal bodies and entities that act in the service of the population in a street situation.

Meetings with public bodies at ACIPG

According to Pogere, the demand reached ACIPG’s Public Security Directorate in early August. One of the first actions was a visit to the region to listen to entrepreneurs and identify the points considered most vulnerable.

Subsequently, representatives of the entity and traders attended a meeting at the Ponta Grossa Social Welfare Foundation (FASPG). The meeting also brought together social assistance professionals and members of the Municipal Civil Guard.

The situation was also presented during a meeting of the Community Security Council (CCS), held at the headquarters of ACIPG. The meeting allowed the shopkeepers to report the difficulties directly to the representatives of the security forces operating in the municipality.

The association also activated the municipal secretariats related to Public Security and Social Assistance. Among the demands are strengthening patrol and building a permanent solution to the problems reported by traders.

Shoppers report problems in the Centro Pop environment

According to the shopkeepers heard by ACIPG, part of the occurrences would be concentrated in the surroundings of the Centro POP, public equipment intended for the care of people in street situations.

The traders claim that the movement in the region also attracted people involved in drug trafficking, theft and other crimes. The statement represents the diagnosis of the entrepreneurs and the entity and does not mean that all users served by Centro POP are related to criminal practices.

ACIPG itself emphasizes that street population and crime are different issues. For the association, social vulnerability requires specialized attention, while crimes and situations of violence must receive response from security agencies.

The entity advocates the expansion of the integrated action of the public power and the advancement of studies on a possible transfer of the Centro POP from the central region. There is no official decision on the possible change of the unit.

ACIPG also requested a meeting with the Public Prosecutor of Paraná (MPPR). According to Pogere, the meeting does not yet have a confirmed date due to the transition of the prosecutor responsible for the issue.

“We are awaiting the return of an agenda date for the Public Prosecutor’s Office, where ACIPG and the representative of that region, of the shopkeepers, will be present,” he explained. ACIPG stated that it remains at the disposal of the public to contribute to a permanent solution for the safety and occupation of the Centro Histórico de Ponta Grossa.
