After BnT Report, Reform of Santa Paula Chapel is Accelerated and Puppies are Removed

The repercussion of a report by Portal BnT Online on the conditions of abandonment of the Mortal Chapel of Santa Paula, in Ponta Grossa, brought new developments on Thursday (29). After the publication of the complaints involving garbage accumulation, lack of maintenance and the presence of five puppies in the property, the Association of Residents of the neighborhood mobilized the responsible organs. The animals were collected for veterinary care and the reform of the structure, initially scheduled for November 10, was reportedly anticipated for Tuesday, November 3.

The information on the anticipation of the works was passed on to the report by the president of the Residents Association of Santa Paula. So far, the Prefeitura de Ponta Grossa has not officially confirmed the new date.

The reform was scheduled to begin on November 10.

According to the president of the association, the chapel has been awaiting improvements for approximately two years. The delay, as he reported, was caused by a stalemate between the City Hall and a company involved in the implementation of the reform.

The community representative explained that the start of the work was already on the way to November 10. However, after the situation of the property gained repercussions, the forecast was anticipated in a week.

The chapel remains without adequate conditions of use, a situation that has provoked complaints from residents of Santa Paula.

Association mobilized municipal bodies after complaints

The president of the association said he became aware of the seriousness of the situation on Wednesday (28), when residents reported the presence of a person in a street situation using the chapel as an improvised shelter.

According to him, the man would be collecting discarded materials in residences and storing part of them in the property, which would have contributed to the accumulation of dirt.

After visiting the site, the community representative contacted municipal teams to request action.

He stressed that the approach to the person in a street situation depends on the performance of social assistance services, to ensure adequate care and referral.

The president also stated that he had previously requested cleaning and brushing services on the ground and that these demands used to be met by the municipal administration.

Five puppies are collected after repercussions

Another development was the collection of the five puppies found in the property.

The animals, whose situation was also reported in the BnT Online report, were treated by teams of the Clinic on Thursday (29).

According to the president of the association, the pups received vaccination and microchipping and were referred for veterinary care. The forecast is that they will also go through castration before being made available for adoption.

Those interested in adopting the animals may seek information from the Clinician.

City Hall has not yet officially responded to BnT

Despite the referrals reported by the president of the association, Prefeitura de Ponta Grossa has not yet submitted an official response to BnT Online on the complaints and the situation of the chapel.

The timetable of the reform, the responsible company and the deadline for completion of the services have not been officially confirmed.

The Portal BnT Online will continue to monitor the situation, especially the forecast for the start of works on November 3rd and the recovery of the space dedicated to the care of the families of the Santa Paula.
