Alagoas elects JHC governor in first round
Candidate obtained 52.09% of valid votes, according to TSE data

JHC was elected governor of Alagoas on Sunday (4), in the first round of the 2026 elections. The PSDB candidate obtained 52.09% of the valid votes, the equivalent of 873.978 votes, according to data from the Superior Electoral Court (TSE).
By 9:38 p.m., 98.28% of the polls had been totaled in the state. With the result, he is mathematically elected.
JHC was ahead of Renan Filho (MDB), who received 47.48% of the vote (796,530).
The following candidates appear:
Lenilda Luna (UP), 0.38%;
Márcio Jambo (Democrat), 0.05%.
Election to governor is defined in the first round when a nomination gets more than half of the valid votes. With the result, there will be no second round for the government of Alagoas.
João Henrique Caldas, the JHC, was a state deputy and federal deputy before being elected mayor of Maceió in 2020 and re-elected in 2024. He resigned from the city hall in April 2026 to dispute the government of Alagoas.
The vote for governor took place simultaneously with the election for president, senator and federal, state or district deputies (in the case of the Federal District).
