The 13-year-old Ponta Grossa athlete Laysla Ribeiro won the gold medal in the Taekwondo Cup Paraná and secured qualification for the Brazil Cup of the sport, which will be held in November, in Fortaleza. The top-ranked champion, up to 59 kg, took part in the competition between 11 and 13 September, in Coronel Vivida, in Paraná.

Laysla represented Ponta Grossa and Team Fury, a social project where she conducts her training. With the performance in the state competition, the young athlete won another opportunity to represent the municipality in a national level tournament.

Gold guarantees national classification

In the Paraná Cup, Laysla won the first place in the fights of his category. In addition to the gold medal and the state title, the result guaranteed his qualification for the Taekwondo Brazil Cup.

The competition is scheduled for November in Fortaleza, Ceará, and will bring together athletes from different regions of the country.

The classification represents another step in the sporting trajectory of Ponta Grossa, which had already achieved another important result in the 2026 season.

Laysla already played Brazilian in Brasilia

In August, Laysla also managed to qualify for the Brazilian Taekwondo Championship, held in Brasilia. In the national competition, the athlete reached the octaves.

Participation provided expertise in high-level disputes and served as preparation for the next challenges. Shortly after, the athlete returned to competitions and managed to climb to the highest place on the podium in the Paraná Cup.

Now, the goal is to be able to play the Copa do Brasil and continue to carry the name of Ponta Grossa for national competitions.

Athlete seeks support to travel to Fortaleza

Despite the results within the competition areas, the family faces another challenge: raising the necessary resources to pay for Laysla’s participation in the Copa do Brasil.

Expenses for travel, accommodation, food and other needs related to the competition are part of the costs for the young woman to be able to represent Ponta Grossa in Fortaleza.

Therefore, the family seeks supporters, sponsors and people interested in contributing to the athlete’s sporting trajectory.

Anyone who wants to help can contact Laysla’s mother, Alana Ribeiro, by phone (42) 9 9829-7274.

It is also possible to follow the training, results and competitions of the athlete by Instagram @_ribeiro_tkd.

The support can help Laysla continue to compete in state and national competitions and continue to pursue the goal of growing up in taekwondo, representing Ponta Grossa in tournaments throughout Brazil.
