Livia Fietkoski dos Passos won the title of Uzbekistan World Cup champion, the Kickboxing World Cup organized by the World Association of Kickboxing Organizations (WAKO) and played from 13 to 18 October in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. In the under-15 category up to 46 kg, she won all four matches of the competition, all by technical knockout, and took the name of Castro and Brazil to the highest place on the podium. The athlete is supported by the City of Castro through the Bolsa Atleta and the aid of the municipality.

Conquest is the latest in a sequence of results. This year, Lívia won the South American Kickboxing Championship in Chile, alongside her sister, Luise Fietkoski dos Passos, who took third place. After the competition, the two were received in the office by the mayor Reinaldo Cardoso and the municipal secretary of Sport, Cristiano Meira de Lima, who highlighted the evolution of the athletes since last year.

Towards the World Cup, the routine was intense. Lívia, who represents Castro’s Chute Boxe Monstro, did three to four specific workouts a day and faced a more than 30-hour journey between planes and airports, still in weight cut. In Uzbekistan, she was accompanied by her father and coach, Rodrigo Passos, and two other Brazilian athletes, Guilherme Belarmino, from Londrina, and Giulia Lemmi, from São Paulo. Gustavo Gomes, seleção brasileira athlete, Axiel Ryan and Thales Pageu were also present in the preparation and support throughout the competition. The athlete also counted on the support and encouragement of all the training partners.

“It was a feeling from another world. At the time, I just had fun doing what I like to do, which is fighting,” says the champion. According to her, the last two fights were the most difficult, as the opponents were point fight athletes, a modality that unfolds in a different way and requires a strategy of its own. The record fell when her father told her that she had passed the final and was now a world champion. “It came a mixture of emotions of joy and excitement,” he recalls.

Lívia has been training kickboxing since she was five and began competing at 12, inspired by her father, sister and aunt, who also fight. For her, the title came after a clear evolution. "Seeing my last championships, I realized that I corrected a lot of basic mistakes, but I still can and will improve," he said. Even with the full focus on the competition, the athlete got to know a bit of the local culture, tried typical dishes and the traditional Uzbek bread, the non. A striking moment was just before one of the fights, when Uzbek girls stopped to talk to her and gave her a flower. “I realized I was on the other side of the world making friends with people on the other side of the world,” he says.

About the support received, Lívia highlights the role of public power. "The Bolsa Atleta helped me buy a good part of my fighting equipment, and the help of the municipality helped with part of the money to get here," he explains. Representing Castro and Brazil, according to her, is the realization of a dream: "It was very honorable to realize this dream yet new and together with whom I love."

For young people who dream of sports, the champion leaves a message: "Don't stop dreaming. If you want something, fight for it. The process will not always be easy, but enjoy each step, both the good and the hard moments." The next goal is to qualify for the Wako Youth Championship, world kickboxing for the under-17 category, one of the biggest stages of the sport.
