Bankers' strike may close agencies in Ponta Grossa starting on Thursday
Bankers' strike in Ponta Grossa may close Caixa agencies starting on Thursday (10); the situation at Banco do Brasil is still to be determined.

The strike of bankers in Ponta Grossa may affect the functioning of bank branches as of next Thursday (10). Officials at Caixa Econômica Federal approved an indefinite shutdown, while the situation of workers at Banco do Brasil will still have new referrals on Tuesday (8).
The mobilization is part of the Bankers’ Salary Campaign of 2026 and takes place in different regions of Brazil. At Paraná, employees of the 10-base unions linked to the Federation of State Bankers of Paraná (FEEB-PR), including Ponta Grossa, approved the strike.
Strike can reach Ponta Grossa and cities in the region
In addition to Ponta Grossa, the local Bankers’ Union represents workers from Carambeí, Castro, Piraí do Sul, Ipiranga, Imbituva, Irati, Teixeira Soares, Rebouças, Palmeira and Fernandes Pinheiro, in addition to Castrolanda, in Castro. In this way, the movement may provoke reflections in face-to-face care in different municipalities of the Campos Gerais.
In the vote held in Paraná, 596 employees of Caixa were in favor of the strike, 58 voted against and 19 abstained. The shutdown is scheduled to start at zero on Thursday and has no set deadline to end.
The membership of employees in each unit may determine the impact on attendance. Some agencies may be closed, while others may be partially functioning.
What about the Bank of Brazil?
In the Bank of Brazil, the situation still depends on a definition of the Federation. Among the ten unions affiliated to FEEB-PR, 205 workers voted for the strike and 164 defended the continuation of negotiations without a stoppage.
The base of Ponta Grossa is among those who approved the strike in the BB. However, given the narrow difference in the general vote and the distinct results between the regions, representatives of the Federation are expected to meet on Tuesday to decide on the next steps.
The employees of the private banks represented by the Federation bases have accepted the proposal presented by the National Federation of Banks (Fenaban) and, at the moment, do not integrate the strike movement in the Paraná.
What do bankers claim?
The salary campaign involves discussions on readjustment, benefits, Profit and Outcome Share (PLR), working conditions, job maintenance, goals and other guidelines.
The proposal presented by Fenaban envisages replenishment of 100% of the INPC, plus a real gain of 0.6% in 2026, a formula that would also be repeated in 2027. The readjustment would reach wages and benefits such as food stamps, meal stamps and child care.
In the case of Caixa and Banco do Brasil, however, impasses remain related to specific agreements of institutions.
Pix and applications should continue to work
Even in case of closing of agencies, digital services such as Pix, banking applications, internet banking and cards tend to remain available. ATMs can also continue to operate, although certain procedures depend on in-person care.
Those who need to attend in person to an agency of Caixa or Banco do Brasil from Thursday must previously verify the operation of the unit.
The expectation is now for the next negotiations and for the meeting scheduled for Tuesday, which may define the situation of the Bank of Brazil in Paraná.
