The Baron’s Fair in Ponta Grossa will have a special edition next Tuesday, September 15, to celebrate the 203 years of the municipality. The third edition of the event will be held in the Baron Square of the Rio Branco, from 9 am to 6 pm, bringing together crafts, gastronomy, visual arts and cultural attractions in the middle of the city’s anniversary.

According to the president of the Ponta Grossa Craftsman’s House, Marluce, the choice of the date was precisely to integrate the fair to the official celebrations and take advantage of the movement of the traditional anniversary parade.

“Our idea is to do it on the day of the parade, so that people, during the concentration, during the parade and especially after the parade, have the opportunity to prestige our event,” he explained.

Crafts and gastronomy in the Center

The main highlight of the Baron’s Fair will be the commercialization of handmade products, bringing together works produced by local artisans. The program seeks to enhance the creative production of the city and bring professionals closer to the public.

In addition to the crafts, there will be a gastronomic area in partnership with the food fair. Among the options provided are traditional items from popular events such as cake, cane broth, crepe and sandwiches.

According to Marluce, the proposal is to create a space in which residents and visitors can stay after the parade and enjoy different activities throughout the day.

Visual arts will also be present.

The special edition will also have the participation of the Pro-Rectorate of Extension and Cultural Affairs (Proex), which should take students and works related to the visual arts to the Baron Square of Rio Branco.

The initiative extends the cultural programming of the fair and reinforces the proposal to transform the space into a showcase for artists, artisans and talents of Ponta Grossa.

Feira seeks artists for voluntary presentations

The organization also opened space for artists interested in performing during the Baron Fair. The search contemplates different cultural manifestations, such as music, dance, theater, circus performances, clowns, magicians and other activities.

Presentations are voluntary and unpaid. According to Marluce, the proposal is to offer an opportunity to spread the word to local artists and, at the same time, expand the attractions available to the public.

"Our intention is to attract the fair and at the same time give visibility to these talents of our city," he said.

One of the already confirmed attractions is the singer Nil, who must present repertoire with different rhythms. He will also participate in a capoeira wheel, with members of his group and participation open to the interested public.
