Blitz informs young people about the use of motorcycles, scooters and electric bicycles in Castro

The first educational blitz of the campaign “Vai de Boa. Back home,” hundreds of young people and drivers were guided on Thursday (24) in two schools in Castro. The initiative seeks to raise awareness among adolescents and the entire school community about traffic safety and the responsible use of motorcycles, electric scooters, electric bicycles and other mobility equipment.

The action was carried out by the Directorate of Press of the City Council, the Secretariat of Government, in partnership with the Municipal Guard, the Municipal Secretariat of Public Security, during the departure hours of the students, at the Emília Erichsen School, in Vila Rio Branco, and at the Antônio and Marcos Cavanis State School, in the Center.

During the blitz, teams handed out flyers with guidance and campaign stickers and talked to students and drivers about traffic rules and the care needed to prevent accidents. The action also counted on the participation of the councilor Levi Napoli and the management and coordination teams of the two schools.

Guidance

The receptivity of the students was one of the highlights of the action. The young people participated in the conversations with the agents, they doubted and many have already taken the opportunity to put on the vehicles the stickers with the capivara “Vai de Boa”, the campaign mascot.

The student Eliza Rafaela dos Anjos Schneider, tells that she uses a motorcycle as a means of transport and recognizes the importance of reconciling practicality with responsibility. “It’s been a while since I’m riding the ‘motinha’, it’s been my means of transport lately and I’ve seen it break a big branch for us, because sometimes the parents can’t get us to the places. But you have to have responsibility, have a notion of traffic, take care of yourself,” he said.

For the director of the Emília Erichsen College, Maria Helena de Albuquerque, guidance is important in the face of the concern of schools with the use of these vehicles by students. “For us it is a joy, a great pleasure to welcome you here for guidance to our students. These “movements” have worried us. We've done a job before with a military police officer and a traffic officer. I am very grateful and congratulations to all of you,” she said.

The professor of the Antônio and Marcos Cavanis State College, Noeli Maria Hey Bondança, also highlighted the importance of the union between school, family and community. “I think this is a great initiative because we need it. Union of forces: school, community and family: perfect. Take care of our teenagers,” he said.

In the nets and in the streets

The campaign “Goes well. It began to be developed in the social networks of the City Hall and now also reaches the streets, bringing closer the communication of students and taking orientations directly to the places of circulation of young people.

The Press Director of the City Hall, Emanoelle Wisnievski, explains that the proposal is to work the awareness in a close way and accessible to the young public. “We have received from the City Council the challenge of doing an awareness campaign for young people who use self-propelled vehicles. So we developed this campaign on social networks, a mascot, which is a capybarinha, we gave a name, the ‘Vai de Boa’, and today the action is melee, giving guidance, the tips, talking with the youth so that they take home a sticker and the awareness of respecting the traffic and respecting others. It is a way to contribute to making our city’s traffic safer,” he explained.

Councilman Levi Napoli, who applied for the Câmara Municipal campaign to be carried out, followed the action in schools and highlighted the concern for the safety of young people. “It is an initiative, through a request from the House, to try to prevent accidents, to raise awareness among parents and young people of the danger of using these motorcycles without the proper safety equipment. It is an awareness and concern for the lives of our children,” he said.

Parents have an important role

In addition to guiding students, the campaign seeks to involve parents and guardians, reinforcing the importance of talking to their children before allowing them to use these vehicles on public roads.

The municipal secretary of Public Security, Fábio Pinheiro, stressed that the family has a fundamental role in prevention. “Today we start the educational blitz and the next steps can be inspections on the use of helmets, asking for the invoice of the vehicle, among others. Awareness on the part of parents is important. If you’re going to release an electric scooter, a scooter for your child, orient yourself on traffic, on the basic signage. Think of it as your greatest good, your son walking the streets of Castro. Security first,” he said.
