The defeat of Operário Ferroviário by 1-0 to America-MG, for the 34th round of the Brazilian Serie B Championship, practically put an end to the Phantom’s hopes of reaching the G6. More than the negative result, what is worrying is the football presented by the team, which does not demonstrate conditions to compete with the opponents who still compete in the first positions.

The Brazilian Serie B Championship enters its decisive straight, and the results of the round begin to draw the future of the clubs. While the top teams fight for important positions, the Worker seems to have missed the opportunity to turn the season into something bigger.

In my assessment, the Phantom no longer has real conditions to reach the G6. Mathematics can still allow combinations, but performance within the field points to a quite different reality.

Defeat for America-MG exposes problems of the Worker

What happened in front of America-MG is hard to justify. The opponent, who was already facing a practically irreversible situation in the competition, managed to beat a Worker who needed the three points to continue feeding his pretensions.

And it was not an isolated result.

The Phantom had already encountered enormous difficulties in overcoming the Ponte Preta by 3 to 2. Now, faced with another opponent from the lower part of the classification, he again presented a limited football.

Under the command of Alberto Valentim, the Worker played two matches that made evident the need for changes. The team presents difficulties in creation, little offensive efficiency and cannot demonstrate superiority even in the face of the most frail opponents.
