Businessman is arrested as alleged mastermind of crime at a barbershop in Ponta Grossa

The Civil Police of Ponta Grossa arrested, on the morning of Friday (4), a 31-year-old businessman. He is suspected of being one of the principals and articulators of the murder of Hugo Gabriel Moll and the attempted murder against the owner of a barbershop, João Victor Pereira. The crime occurred on June 19, 2026, inside the establishment located at Avenida Pedro Wosgrau.

As indicated by the investigations, the fatal victim, Hugo Gabriel Moll, was not the target of the shooters and was struck by mistake. The real target of the criminal action was an individual with a vast criminal record who had left the barbershop just before the attack.

The identification of the entrepreneur took place after the deepening of the diligences and the cross-analysis of evidence and data collected during the previous phases of the operation. Based on the elements gathered, the Police Authority represented the issuance of search and seizure warrants – carried out this morning – and the temporary arrest of the suspect.

In compliance with this warrant, PCPR sums multiple investigators captured in the course of this operation, reaffirming the commitment of security forces to combating violent crimes and organized crime in the Ponta Grossa region.

Understand the Case

The crime took place on June 19, 2026, at around 16:15, in a barbershop in the Cará-Cará neighborhood, in Ponta Grossa. A man wearing a red helmet, blue jacket and dark pants broke into the scene and fired a 9mm caliber pistol. Hugo Gabriel Moll, who was sitting in the haircut chair, was shot in the head and died on the spot. The owner of the establishment, João Victor Pereira, was struck in the chest and rescued in time.

The investigation, of high complexity, required the crossing of intelligence data, analysis of images of security cameras, road monitoring and expert reports.

According to the delegate responsible for the case, Luís Gustavo Timossi, the investigations confirmed that the victims were hit by mistake. The primary target was a man involved in drug trafficking who had left the site just ten seconds before Hugo’s arrival. The owner of the establishment was wounded in an attempt by the executioners to eliminate witnesses or in reaction during the attack.

Previous Stages and Developments:

In the phase previously launched, on July 28, the PCPR, with the support of the Military Police, had already served five warrants of temporary arrest and five of search and seizure against the members of the logistics and execution of the crime.

With the arrest of the businessman named as principal on today's date, the Civil Police of Paraná moves towards the conclusion of the police investigation and the accountability of all those involved before the Judiciary.
