Capoeira Festival brings over 100 students to Cine Teatro Ópera in PG
Capoeira Festival in Ponta Grossa brings over 100 students this Sunday (8), at Cine Teatro Ópera, with free entry.

The Capoeira Festival in Ponta Grossa promises to move the Cine Teatro Ópera on Sunday (8), bringing together more than 100 students of the Association Way (ACC). With free entry, the event begins at 1 pm and will have a special program, including cultural presentations and the traditional exchange of strings, which represents the evolution of the practitioners of the sport.
The festival will feature the participation of children, adolescents and other members of capoeira projects developed in the regions of Ouro Verde, Jardim Paraíso and Jardim Los Angeles. The initiative seeks to enhance the Afro-Brazilian culture, encourage the practice of sports and strengthen the bonds between students, family and the community.
More than 100 students attend the festival
One of the most awaited moments of the programming will be the string exchange ceremony, which symbolizes the advancement of capoeiristas in their learning and development process within the modality.
According to Professor Marcelo Aparecido, known as Professor Careca, responsible for the capoeira activities of the Caminho Certo Association, the meeting represents an important achievement for the participants.
“We will bring together more than 100 students from different regions of the city. This will be a very important moment for the families and students who will change the band and will mark this evolution of the students who are dedicated to Capoeira”, emphasizes the teacher.
Capoeira gains space in the culture of Ponta Grossa
In addition to celebrating the development of students, the Capoeira Festival reinforces the importance of the sport as a cultural event and an instrument of social inclusion in Ponta Grossa.
For the Professor Careca, the holding of the event in one of the main cultural spaces of the city demonstrates the advancement of the recognition of capoeira in the municipality.
“Once again a peripheral art, like Capoeira, will occupy such an important stage of local culture as is the Cine Teatro Ópera. I am very happy to be able to advance the recognition of Capoeira in our city with the Municipal Capoeira Week, the Campos Gerais Challenge and other events that have involved our sport,” he says.
The realization of the festival also highlights the work of the Way Certain Association in promoting capoeira in different communities of Ponta Grossa, providing opportunities for learning, integration and appreciation of cultural traditions.
