Two capoeiristas of Ponta Grossa were summoned to integrate the first Seleção Brasileira of Capoeira and represent the country in the Pan American Competitive Capoeira Championship. Bruna Isabelle Fernandes Madalozzo, known as Boo Capoeira, and Kauê Eduardo Caldeira Alves will compete in the competition in Lima, Peru, from 11 to 13 December 2026.

The call took place through the World Capoeira and the Capoeira Confederation of Brazil, within the Brazil Lima 2026 Mission.

The participation will be historic for the mode. According to the organization, this is the first time that Brazil officially forms a national team for the contest of a Pan American Championship of capoeira, bringing together competitors of different states, schools and styles.

Ponta Grossa will also have coach in the selection

In addition to the two athletes, Ponta Grossa will also be represented on the technical committee. The foreman Caio Kalil, known as Spark, was summoned as coach of the Seleção Brasileira during the Brazil Lima 2026 Mission.

The convocation represents the recognition of a work developed over the years and also reinforces the presence of capoeira ponta-grossense in high level competitions.

“It is an immense joy to bring the names of Ponta Grossa into Capoeira’s first Seleção Brasileira. Commanding these athletes in this mission is recognizing the work, dedication and talent they carry. We will represent not only Brazil, but also our city, our teachers and the whole community that has built this trajectory together with us,” he said.

Competition brings together athletes from different regions of Brazil

The president of the Brazil Lima 2026 Mission, Saverio Scarpati, stressed that the Brazilian presence in international competitions goes beyond the sporting aspect and also represents the appreciation of an internationally recognized cultural event.

According to him, the summons of Ponta Grossa athletes demonstrates that the competitive capoeira of high level is also present outside the great Brazilian centers.

“Having Ponta Grossa athletes integrating this first selection shows the strength and technical quality that exist throughout the country, not just in the big centers. Representing Brazil is an honor. Building the history of Capoeira’s first Seleção Brasileira is a privilege that will remain forever.”

Athletes seek support for trip to Peru

To enable participation in the Pan American Championship, the delegation from Ponta Grossa is looking for sponsors, partner companies and also individuals interested in collaborating with the trip.

The resources will be used for expenses such as air tickets, accommodation, food and travel insurance.

In contrast, supporters will be able to have brand exposure in official uniforms, dissemination in digital marketing actions during the competition in Lima and use the image of athletes in campaigns. There are also possibilities for internal actions in companies, including lectures and cultural experiences related to capoeira.

Companies and people interested in supporting athletes can contact Igor Antonio Madalozzo, responsible for the team, by phone (42) 98891-9778 or by e-mail [email protected].
