Carambeí's Historical Park Museum Participates in the 20th Museum Spring

Between September 22 and 27, the Museu Parque Histórico de Carambeí (MPHC) will participate in the 20th Museum Spring, a museum event held by the Brazilian Institute of Museums (Ibram), which this year has as its theme “Museums for all people”.

With the aim of expanding access and bringing the public closer to the experiences offered, the Museu Parque Histórico de Carambeí will have free entry between September 22 and 25.

The programming of the MPHC was designed to provide different ways of experiencing the space, bringing the public closer to the history, memory and heritage preserved by the Museum. Among the activities scheduled are mediated visits for school groups, with the theme “Carambeí of today and tomorrow”, and the Workshop of Conservation and Care with the Collection, both by prior scheduling.

This year’s Museum Spring proposal reinforces the idea that museums are spaces for all people and can assume different roles in the relationship with the community.

At MPHC, the program brings together past, present and future and invites visitors to record, through letters, their feelings, perceptions and desires for tomorrow.

The letters produced during the Museum Spring will be preserved and will be part of a time capsule that will be sealed and the contents will be kept until September 2031, when the letters will be opened again.

Time capsules

If you could write a letter to someone who is going to live in Carambeí in five years, what would it tell you? What would you like this person to know about who you are and the Museu Parque Histórico de Carambeí (MPHC)?

It is from these questions that the Museu Parque Histórico proposes an experience during the 20th Spring of the Museums: the creation of its own Time Capsule. The initiative is part of the program of the event, held by the Brazilian Institute of Museums (Ibram), and invites the public to use writing as a way to record the present and establish a dialogue with the future.

“The importance of making a Time Capsule is in materializing reflection on ourselves and our society in time. It is defining who we are and want to be, and making commitments to that reality and our dreams. It allows us to reflect on how to put in dialogue the generations that make up a society and give visibility to our condition of travelers in the time that we are, subjects and historical actors”, explains Felipe Zainedin, mediator in the Educational and Cultural Sector of the MPHC.

According to the mediator Nicolas Holm Kuff, the activity transforms the visitor into an active participant in the process of building memory. The experience is no longer just the contemplation of the collection and becomes a moment of pause, where the public reflects on the present itself and projects the future in a letter. This stimulates the sense of belonging and even her return to the Museum in the future,” he says.

The initiative reinforces the role of the Museum as a space for dialogue between different generations, preserving not only the memories of the past, but the records, feelings and perspectives of the present that will help people of the future to understand what it was like to live, dream and imagine tomorrow in Carambeí in 2026. By participating in the construction of this record, the visitor ceases to be just a spectator of history and becomes part of it.

The contents will be sealed and remain under the Museum’s custody until September 2031, when the Time Capsule will be opened and the letters will be read again, revealing the dreams, feelings and perspectives recorded by the participants in 2026.
