Caso Luigi: CIMSAMU says it initiated a procedure to investigate the care in Castro
Luigi got injured on September 25th. He did not resist and died on October 3rd.

The CIMSAMU - Samu Intermunicipal Consortium Campos Gerais - released an official note after the death of Luigi Gabriel da Cruz Sales, 12, a student of the State College Professor Basílio Chrum, in Castro.
Luigi was injured on September 25 during a play with friends. He was admitted and died during Saturday (3), in Hospital Universitário (HU-UEPG) in Ponta Grossa. He was buried on Monday (5).
The consortium deeply regretted the death and reported that it has instituted internal administrative procedure to analyze the performance of the service, with review of the records by the Medical Coordination of the Central of Regulation, after the school claimed that the Samu team refused attendance that day because it understood that there was no priority.
According to the records of the CIMSAMU, the first activation of the SAMU occurred at 16:12 on September 25, related to the occurrence reported to the Central as a fall of the same level. Regulatory care was carried out at that time and, after the guidance provided by the medical regulation, the student was referred for face-to-face evaluation in a health unit.
Subsequently, at 7:10 pm, already during the care in the Pronto Atendimento Unit, the SAMU was again activated, this time for requesting regulation and transfer of the patient to a service of greater complexity. From this second drive, the Advanced Support Unit was engaged, which carried out the transport to the Hospital Universitário (HU-UEPG) on Ponta Grossa.
The CIMSAMU also reported that the information regarding the content of the evaluation carried out by the medical regulation, the clinical conditions presented by the patient, the care procedures, examinations, evolution of the picture and other elements contained in the records of care are subject to the duty of professional secrecy and, for this reason, will not be disclosed.
The body states that it monitors the investigations related to the case and remains available to the competent authorities for the provision of the necessary records and clarifications.
The Case
During a play between students, Luigi ended up falling to the ground and suffered serious injuries.
According to information, it took 40 minutes. Luigi got hurt at 3:40. Then the school triggered the Samu, but the team resounded the attendance by understanding that there was no priority. With this, the teenager entered the unit at 16:25, when he was taken by his own means.
The group consisted of seven students, counting on Luigi, who were taking turns playing with each other. In Luigi's place, four students made the joke and two stood looking. The play, according to the information available, involved a child sitting while two other students held their arms, one on each side, to lift it. During the action, Luigi lost his balance and fell to the ground.
The Civil Police of Castro are investigating the case. So far, the case has been treated as an accident.
For the BnT Portal report, delegate Marcondes Ribeiro reviewed more about the investigations. “It is still a preliminary investigation. It is being determined whether there was an infraction committed by the adolescents or if the result of death was not foreseeable. People will be heard at the Castro Police Station. Among them are the families of the victim, school officials and military police,” he said.
The delegate also pointed out that it was requested to send the medical records of the UPA of Castro and also the Hospital Universitário (HU-UEPG) of Ponta Grossa. "A necropsy was also requested to determine the cause of death. Reports and examinations have not yet been delivered to us. We're waiting. We're also checking for SAMU omissions by refusing to send an ambulance to school. Checking also if there was negligence of the school's servants in seeking medical attention. More concrete answers will only be possible after analysis of medical records, necropsy report, SAMU registration form and testimony of the parties," says Marcondes Ribeiro.
UPA DE CASTRO
In a note, the city said that the Unit of Pronto Atendimento (UPA) of Castro performed the patient care in the afternoon of the day of the accident. After medical attention and examinations, the patient was referred to Hospital Universitário Regional de Ponta Grossa (HU-UEPG).
