Castro hosts Brazilian Arena Velocross Championship with over 400 pilots and an unprecedented modality

Castro, in the Campos Gerais, receives this Friday (25) and Saturday (26) the opening of the Brazilian Velocross Arena Championship. The event takes place at the Dario Macedo Exhibition Park and is expected to bring together more than 400 drivers from different states, distributed in 19 categories. Entrance is free, by donating a toy or a kilo of non-perishable food.

The competition promises to move the municipality during the two days, with disputes ranging from the children's categories, with children on electric motorcycles, to tests aimed at more experienced riders.

In addition to the races, the public will be able to follow the NacNac Challenge between states and take advantage of the structure mounted in the park, which will have shops, food court and access to the boxes.

Performed since 2011 and run by the Brazilian Motorcycling Confederation (CBM), Arena Velocross is part of the national off-road motorcycle calendar.

Formerly created in Castro officially debuts in the championship

One of the main highlights of the stage will be the official launch of Duel Kings, a new format of kickoff that was born in Castro during the realization of the Brazilian Championship of Motocross, when it received the name of Challenge Castro Holeshot.

Now, reformulated and renamed, the sport officially integrates the calendar of the Arena Velocross and will be present in the next stages of the championship.

The race takes place on Friday (25), starting at 7 pm, and puts two drivers side by side in a 50-metre jump. The format is eliminatory, with clashes in the killer system until the definition of the so-called "king of the straight".

The Duel Kings will have four categories, with prizes of R$ 2,000 for each winner. The four champions will still compete in a final challenge, which will give the winner an exclusive kit of Arena Velocross products.

For the producer of the event, Cale Neto, of the Escuderia Eventos, the launch of the modality in the city has a special meaning.

"Bringing motocross back to Castro is very special for us. The city has already shown, with the Castro Holeshot Challenge, that it has a passionate public for sport and that it embraces this type of event. Now, returning with the opening of the Brazilian Velocross Arena Championship and officially launching the Duel Kings is a great joy. I believe that the public will find an even more complete event, with a lot of dispute, excitement and that energy that only Velocross provides,” he says.

Event should move Castro trade and tourism

In addition to attracting competitors from different regions of Brazil, the championship should contribute to the movement of the local economy, especially in the sectors of commerce, hospitality, gastronomy and service provision.

The municipal secretary of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, Kasciano Morais, highlights that the realization of the event is part of the strategy of expanding the sports and tourism programming of the municipality.

“Castro has structure, has audience and has the potential to host great events. Bringing the opening of the Brazilian Velocross Arena Championship to the municipality, with the launch of a sport born here, is an opportunity to strengthen the sport, move trade, the hotel network, gastronomy and services, as well as provide a differentiated and free programming for the population.

The championship will have two stages for the first time.

The opening in Castro also marks a novelty in the history of Arena Velocross. For the first time, the championship will feature two stages in the same season.

After the disputes this weekend, the competition will continue to Campina Grande do Sul, the municipality that traditionally hosts the event.

The grand final is scheduled for November 27 and 28, when the Brazilian champions of the season will be defined.
