The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) confirmed on Monday (21), the postponement of the match between Criciúma and Operário Ferroviário, valid for Serie B of the Brazilian Championship. The match, initially scheduled for tonight, was rescheduled for Tuesday (22), at 7:30 pm, at Heriberto Hülse Stadium, in Criciúma, Santa Catarina.
The decision was made official by the entity through the Table Modification Information document (IMT – 32BSB/26), signed by the Director of Competitions, Julio Avellar. The change was requested by the Competitions Directorate of the CBF due to the emergency situation decree published by the City of Criciúma, after heavy rains that hit the municipality.
With the definition, the Worker already has a new date for entering the field. The time and the stadium of the match remain unchanged.
CBF officializes new date after emergency decree
The confirmation of the CBF comes after the City of Criciúma announced, in the afternoon of Monday (21), the suspension of events that gather people in the municipality during an initial period of 24 hours, with the possibility of extension.
The measure was adopted in the face of the disturbances caused by the intense rains, which caused flooding and caused rivers to overflow in different regions of the city.
In a statement, Mayor Vagner Espíndola informed that the Criciúma and Sangão rivers exceeded normal levels and that the situation required the adoption of emergency measures.
The mayor also explained that the suspension of events allows security and attendance teams to remain available to provide assistance to the population affected by the rains.
The municipal decision directly affected the realization of the confrontation between Criciúma and Operário, which was scheduled to take place on Monday.
Worker will face Criciúma this Tuesday
With the publication of the official statement, the CBF has defined the new schedule of the match, ending the uncertainty about the date of the confrontation.
The document confirms that the change is restricted to the day of the game. Therefore, Criciúma and Operário face each other on Tuesday (22), at 7:30 pm, at the Heriberto Hülse Stadium, in Criciúma.
The duel represents another commitment of the Phantom in the Serie B contest of the Brazilian Championship.
The change comes at a time when the municipality of Santa Catarina faces the impacts of heavy rains, which led the municipal administration to decree an emergency situation.
The confirmation of the CBF updates the information previously released by BnT Online, when the City of Criciúma had announced the suspension of the game and the clubs were still waiting for the official definition of the entity.
