Helicopter crash in SC that killed singer Rick will be investigated by Cenipa after aircraft was found in Urubici
The helicopter crash in SC that killed singer Rick, of the duo Rick and Renner, will be investigated by the Center for Research and Prevention of Aeronautical Accidents (Cenipa). The aircraft with registration PP-MGR was found on Tuesday (22) in the region of Urubici, in the Sierra de Santa Catarina. All five occupants died in the accident.
Cenipa said it had initiated investigation procedures to identify the circumstances that led to the crash of the aircraft. Among the first steps is the so-called “initial action”, work that involves the collection of information, analysis of the debris and survey of possible factors that may have contributed to the accident.
Teams of the Fifth Regional Service for the Investigation and Prevention of Aeronautical Accidents (SERIPA V), based in Canoas (RS), were mobilized to assist in the work. Investigators must assess the condition of the helicopter, the location of the impact and other technical elements related to the flight.
The investigation into the helicopter crash has not yet set a deadline for completion. According to Cenipa, the time required to finalize the report depends on the complexity of the analyses and the amount of information that will be gathered during the process.
The location of the aircraft occurred during a search operation coordinated by the Força Aérea Brasileira (FAB). An SC-105 Amazonas aircraft participated in the search and carried out approximately 13 hours of flight until it found the point where the helicopter was.
After identifying the area of the accident, the FAB team guided a helicopter that was closer to the region to support operations carried out on the ground. The work also included the participation of the Aeronautical Rescue Coordination Center of Curitiba (Salvaero Curitiba), responsible for the planning of the searches.
The agency established a search area based on technical information and on the points considered most likely to locate the aircraft.
With the helicopter found, the researchers now move on to the stage of analyzing the available data. The objective of the work is to gather information that can clarify the causes and factors involved in the helicopter crash in SC, contributing to the prevention of new aircraft accidents.
Cenipa reinforces that the investigation has a technical character and seeks exclusively to identify the factors related to the accident.
