A student at Frei Elias Zulian Municipal School, in Ponta Grossa, needed medical attention after suffering a cut in the leg when hitting a piece of railway track in a grassy area of the institution. According to his father, the accident happened on Monday (October 26th), around 11:30 am. In response to the case, the Municipal Secretariat of Education reported that the removal of the tracks was completed on Tuesday (27).

According to the report of the person in charge referred to BnT Online, the child was playing with colleagues when he slipped into the grass and hit the iron object. The impact would have caused a deep cut in the region above the knee. The father reported that the school triggered an ambulance and that the son was referred to UPA Santa Paula, where he was receiving care at the time he wrote the report.

No updated information was provided on the evolution of the child's health picture.

Father questions safety and reports possible previous accident

When looking for the press, the person responsible expressed concern about the presence of the object in the school space and took measures to prevent other children from being injured. “My son left home to study and play in an environment that should be safe and ended up in need of urgent medical attention,” he said.

According to the father, a teacher of Physical Education would have mentioned, in the presence of the director, that another accident had already occurred in the same place or involving the object. The existence of this previous occurrence was not confirmed in the demonstration sent by the Ministry of Education.

The official also stated that he had formalized a complaint in the Office of the Municipal Secretariat of Education, requesting action on the case.

Secretary says track became apparent after rain

In a position forwarded to the report, the Secretariat confirmed that the object cited in the reports was a piece of rail remaining from the railway network that existed in that region.

According to the folder, the material was not visible to the naked eye and its presence was not known by the school or the Secretariat until the end of the week before the accident. The municipal administration attributed the exposure of the track to the heavy rains that hit Ponta Grossa.

The Secretariat reported that, as soon as it was communicated by the school, it began the process of removing the tracks. According to the note, the service was completed on Tuesday (27), following the regular procedures of maintenance of the folder.

Reports diverge on external denunciation

At the demonstration, the Secretariat stated that there was “no external denunciation about the case”. The statement diverges from the father’s account, who reported having registered a complaint in the Ombudsman’s Office. The municipal response does not clarify whether this record was located.

The positioning also does not detail when the school reported the presence of the rail to the Secretariat, if there was isolation of the area before the accident or if there are records of another child injured at the same point.
