Civil Defense warns of storm with hail and strong winds in Ponta Grossa

The Defesa Civil issued an alert for Ponta Grossa and the region in the face of the possibility of heavy rains on Friday (4). The warning points to the risk of potentially intense storms, heavy rain in a short period of time, hailfall and gusts of wind.

The alert is valid until 15:55 this Friday, September 4, and asks special attention of residents during the period of instability.

According to the message sent by Defesa Civil, the guidance is for the population to avoid areas of risk and seek safe shelter if the storm approaches.

Risk of hail and gusts of wind

In addition to the large volume of rain in a small range, the possibility of hail and strong winds increases the risk of falling trees, branches, poles and other structures.

During storms, the recommendation is not to stay in open areas or near trees and metal structures. Drivers should also pay more attention to reduced visibility and possible water accumulation on streets and highways.

Residents of regions that have historically had problems with floods, floods or other events caused by rains should follow the official statements and follow the guidelines of the municipal authorities.

The Defesa Civil also directs the population to follow the contingency plan of the municipality and avoid displacements through places that present a risk during the storm.
