Cleitinho Azevedo elected governor of Minas Gerais in first round
Cleitinho Azevedo obtained 55.41% of valid votes, according to TSE

Cleitinho Azevedo (Republicans) was elected governor of Minas Gerais on Sunday (4), in the first round of the 2026 elections. The candidate obtained 55.41% of the valid votes, the equivalent of 6,276,925 votes, according to data from the Superior Electoral Court (TSE).
By 9:50 p.m., 99.34% of the polls had been totaled in the state.
Cleitinho Azevedo was ahead of Patrus Ananias (PT), who received 26.28% of the vote (2,977,570).
Election to governor is defined in the first round when a nomination gets more than half of the valid votes. With the result, there will be no second round for the government of Minas Gerais.
Senator from Minas Gerais, Cleitinho Azevedo is a businessman and musician. He was councilman of Divinópolis and state deputy before reaching the Senate in 2023. This year, for the first time, the Minas government disputed.
