Collective transport in Castro will be free in the city and rural area this Sunday
The free service will apply to the nine lines of collective transport operated by Viação Cidade de Castro in the urban area and to all concessionary companies operating lines in the rural area of the municipality.

Collective transport will be free in Castro on Sunday (4), the day of the first round of the 2026 elections. The measure was determined by the 16th Electoral Zone of Castro with the aim of facilitating the movement of electors to their polling places so that they can exercise the right to vote.
The gratuity will be valid for the nine lines of public transport operated by Viação Cidade de Castro in the urban area and for all the concessionaire companies that operate lines in the rural area of the municipality.
The lines will operate normally, keeping all the schedules practiced during the weekdays, with round trips. Passengers will not have to pay for the use of public transport this Sunday.
The City of Castro advises voters to consult in advance the timetable and the itinerary of the line they will use to reach the polling place. This information can be consulted in the tables available in these links:

Judge Viviane Cristina Dietrich’s determination follows Article 23 of Resolution-TSE No. 23.751/2026, which establishes the free offer of public public transport on voting days, often compatible with that practiced on working days.
The measure is valid for the first round, this Sunday (4), and also for the possible second round, scheduled for October 25.
