Conflict between PT supporters and Flávio Bolsonaro's backers recorded in Castro's center
Conflict in Castro involves PT supporters and a driver linked to Flávio Bolsonaro. Police were called and the Municipal Guard increased patrols in the city center.
A confusion in Castro, in the Campos Gerais do Paraná, was recorded on Saturday (24), during a banner of supporters of the Workers' Party (PT) in Rua Doutor Jorge, in the center of the city. The riot began after the passing of a van with propaganda linked to the presidential candidate Flávio Bolsonaro (PL). The military police were activated, while the municipal guard reinforced the patrol in the region.
The episode took place in one of the main shopping streets of the municipality, in the vicinity of the Bank of Brazil agency, where PT militants were gathered with flags in support of the candidacy of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
According to reports from people who were at the scene, the driver of a pickup truck passed near the protesters and made gestures associated with support for the former president Jair Bolsonaro. Some witnesses also raised the suspicion that the driver showed signs of drunkenness, information that has not yet been officially confirmed.
The situation would have provoked a discussion between the driver and the participants of the demonstration, evolving into a confusion that caught the attention of merchants, pedestrians and other people who circulated in the central region.
Protesters report provocation during flagging
In the social networks, participants of the act presented their versions about what happened. Among them is retired teacher Rosangela, who reported in her profile that the confusion began after a provocation by the truck driver, identified by the protesters as a supporter of Flávio Bolsonaro.
According to the version presented, the participants held a political demonstration when the vehicle passed through the site and there was a disagreement.
After the episode, the teacher reported on social media that the protesters were leaving the region.
To date, there is no independent confirmation as to who initiated the provocations that resulted in the confusion in Castro.
The City Guard presents another version.
In contact with the report of BNT Online, the commander of the Municipal Guard of Castro, Luciano Fidelis Pereira, presented different information about the beginning of the confrontation.
According to the commander, the PT militants were gathered in Rua Doutor Jorge when a truck passed by playing campaign music related to Flávio Bolsonaro.
According to the information passed on to the commander, the protesters would have reacted to the passage of the vehicle and harassed the driver. The driver then stopped the truck, landed and became involved in the disagreement with the participants of the act.
Luciano Fidelis Pereira also reported that the situation would have occurred quickly, without detailing possible injuries or referrals arising from the episode.
The information presented by the Municipal Guard and by the participants of the demonstration diverge on who would have initiated the conflict.
Military Police were activated and Municipal Guard reinforced patrol
During the incident, the Military Police were called to attend to the situation recorded in the central area of Castro.
The Municipal Guard also conducted patrols and reinforced the presence of teams in the region, with the aim of accompanying the movement and contributing to the safety of merchants, residents and people who transited through the center.
Until the publication of the initial information, there was no official confirmation of arrests, injuries or possible record of infractions related to the occurrence.
Confusion on the eve of the second round of elections
The episode occurred on Saturday (24), a day before the second round of presidential elections, scheduled for Sunday (25), when Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) and Flávio Bolsonaro (PL) compete for the Presidency of the Republic.
The city of Castro also had a carriage and motorcycle support to Flávio Bolsonaro scheduled for this Saturday, with concentration in the Dário Macedo Exhibition Park.
The confusion in Castro occurred amid the political mobilizations carried out in the final straight of the electoral campaign.
