Copel advises companies on safety and irregular wiring in Ponta Grossa poles
Irregular wiring in Ponta Grossa was the topic of a meeting with 22 companies; the company reinforced norms, safety and organization of the poles

The irregular wiring in Ponta Grossa was at the center of a meeting promoted by Copel on Friday, which brought together representatives of 22 telecommunications and data companies operating in the region. The workshop focused on the safe use of electrical power poles, the organization of networks and the compliance with technical standards by internet and telephony operators.
The so-called Workshop on Safety and Technical Standard of Structure Sharing addressed the risks associated with inadequate installation, cable abandonment and activities carried out near the electrical grid. During the presentation, one of the messages highlighted by the company was: “Sharing infrastructure cannot mean sharing accidents.”
According to Copel’s executive manager of Distribution Structure Sharing, Fabrício Salmazo, the intention is to broaden the dialogue with companies that use the concessionaire’s infrastructure. “We seek to eliminate any risks that leave the population vulnerable to obsolete and abandoned wiring,” he said.
Safety of workers and residents
Among the subjects presented were the evolution of the rules for sharing structures, safety legislation, work close to the electricity grid and joint actions between Copel, municipalities and telecommunications companies.
The Manager of Inspection and Supervision of the Sharing of Structures, Rafael Buckoski Gonçalves, stressed that information is one of the main tools to prevent accidents. According to him, the organization of the cables on the poles is important both for the safety of the workers and for the population and for the reliability of the electricity supply.
Copel’s field operation technician at Ponta Grossa, Tiago Eufrásio Maciel, also addressed safety legislation and the impacts of decisions made by teams during fieldwork.
Ponta Grossa has already received regularization mutirão
In addition to the technical guidelines, Copel presented the balance of the actions carried out throughout 2026. Ponta Grossa was among the municipalities that received mutirões for removal and regularization of cables, next to Castro, Guarapuava — in the Colony Entre Rios —, Pinhão, Pitanga, Prudentópolis and União da Vitória.
Considering all these actions carried out during the year, nearly 16,000 kilograms of irregular wiring were removed and approximately 55 kilometers of networks were sanitized.
The balance sheet disclosed by Copel is set and does not inform, in the material forwarded, which specific portion of this volume was withdrawn only in Ponta Grossa.
More than 350 tonnes withdrawn since 2021
The activity for the organization of the networks has been developed specifically by Copel since 2021.
Since the creation of the area responsible for sharing structures, more than 350 tons of irregular cables and equipment have been removed from the poles throughout the Paraná.
The material removed is separated, stored and forwarded to the appropriate destination. The cables collected in the state are centralized in a unit in the Atuba neighborhood of Curitiba, before being treated by a specialized company.
New actions are planned in the Campos Gerais
Copel also announced that it intends to carry out further regularization actions in 2026 and in the first half of 2027.
Among the municipalities planned are Arapoti, Irati, Ortigueira, Palmeira, Porto Vitória, Teixeira Soares, Telêmaco Borba and Tibagi.
The company also said it intends to return to cities already served recently, which may include new steps of monitoring and organization of networks.
The rules for sharing the poles follow regulations of the National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel) and the National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel).
Providers who do not comply with the rules may receive notifications, fines and have irregular cables removed by technical teams. Residents who identify risk situations involving telephony or internet cables can communicate to Copel free of charge by calling 0800 51 00 116.
