Copel records highest number of disconnections due to storms in 2026
Copel reports peak of 493,100 consumer units without power in Paraná. Teams are working to restore supply after storms

Copel reports that the Paraná faced, on Saturday (7), the worst weather event from the point of view of the coverage of the effects on the energy network that supplies the State. The peak of shutdowns resulting from the storms that advanced through the territory of Paraná varied throughout the day, having reached 493,100 consumer units in all regions in the late afternoon. Maintenance teams work to restore supply as soon as possible. The company advises to keep distance from the damaged electrical grid.
"It is the largest contingency of the year, as part of yet another consecutive El Niño weather event. Our work plan is active, with teams distributed throughout the State in meeting the demands of customers who have registered shutdowns. It is a continuous work for the restoration of energy, safely, as soon as possible,” says Denis Mollica, Copel’s Director General of Distribution.
At the moment, maintenance teams are working on restoring power to 424,000 consumer units.
With the severe weather event shifting north and northwest of the state late afternoon and early Saturday night, the number of disruptions may increase as the storms impact the energy distribution system.
The largest volume of power outages by storms this year occurred on Sunday, Oct. 4, at 7:40 a.m., when 325,000 consumer units shut down at the peak.
The company’s teams are still mobilized in the reconnection work in all the regions of Paraná.
