CRB Player Denounces Racism at Germano Krüger; Fan Taken to Police Station

A case involving racism in Worker vs CRB marked the match played in Estádio Germano Krüger, in Ponta Grossa. The player Luizão, of the CRB, denounced having been the target of a verbal demonstration coming from a supporter who was in the stands. The situation caused the game to stop and the anti-racism protocol to be triggered by arbitration.

The episode took place 14 minutes after the first half. The official report of the arbitration team confirms that the 50th athlete of CRB, Luis Gustavo Novaes Palhares, Luizão, sought the fourth referee to communicate what he would have heard coming from the crowd.

According to the document, the player reported having been called “sit there, prisoner’s hair” by a supporter of the Worker.

The arbitration also made it a point to record that no member of the team who was in the field saw or heard directly the demonstration. The procedure was adopted after the complaint made by the athlete himself.

Referee triggered anti-racism protocol

As soon as he received the communication from Luizão, the referee Arthur Gomes Rabelo interrupted the match and put into practice the first stage of the anti-racism protocol.

As stated in the report of the arbitration, the procedure included the stoppage of the match, the realization of the anti-racist gesture and an announcement by the sound system of Germano Krüger, informing the public of the reason for the interruption.

The announcement also warned that if the situation were to repeat or not to cease, further measures could be taken, including the interruption of the departure.

Thus, the official report of the arbitration confirms that the anti-racism protocol was effectively triggered during Worker vs CRB.

Fan was identified and removed

After the complaint, the supporter pointed out by the CRB player was still identified within Germano Krüger.

According to the arbitration, the Worker collaborated with the recognition of the man and with his withdrawal from the stands. The supporter was led to be at the disposal of the authorities responsible for attending to the occurrence.

The report also informs that he has been referred to the procedures related to the occurrence report.

By the time the arbitration document was drafted, the ballot had not yet been presented to the team responsible for the match. As recorded, the document would be forwarded later.

After the identification and withdrawal of the supporter and the realization of the protocol, the departure was resumed.

Worker speaks on the case

In an official note, Operário Ferroviário confirmed that it became aware of the occurrence involving Luizão and a supporter during the match.

The club said it had immediately taken the measures that were within its reach, including identifying the supporter, referral to the police authorities and preservation of the images and other elements that could help in the clarification of the case.

The Worker also reported that he supported the CRB player and the visiting team.

“Operário Ferroviário Esporte Clube informs that, during the match against CRB, it became aware of the occurrence involving the athlete Luizão, of the visiting team, and a supporter.

The club immediately adopted all the measures at its disposal, identifying the supporter, referring him to the police authority and preserving the images and other elements available for the clarification of the facts. In addition, the Worker has provided all necessary support to the athlete and the CRB, and will remain at the disposal of the competent authorities.

The club reaffirms its commitment to the Estádio Germano Krüger to always be an environment of respect, security and healthy coexistence, not compacting with behaviors incompatible with these values.”

Case goes to counting

The occurrence should now be analyzed by the competent authorities, who can use the testimony of those involved, images of the stadium, report of occurrence and other available elements to clarify the circumstances of the episode.

The report of the arbitration becomes an important document for the investigation, mainly by recording the time of the occurrence, the denunciation presented by Luizão, the triggering of the anti-racism protocol and the measures taken during the match.
