Customers of Sanepar will have 25% discount on water bill in Paraná; understand
25% reduction will be applied to the first 5 cubic meters consumed and starts to appear on bills with due date in October

Consumers served by the Sanitation Company of Paraná (Sanepar) will have a 25% discount on the water bill on the first 5 cubic meters consumed monthly. The reduction begins to appear on invoices due in October and will be valid for 30 months.
The measure was determined by the Regulatory Agency of Delegated Public Services of Paraná (Agepar) and reaches customers of the company in 344 municipalities in Paraná. With the change, the minimum tariff for those who consume up to 5 cubic meters goes from R$ 99.16 to R$ 74.37.

How the discount will be applied
Despite the 25% reduction, the benefit will not be calculated on the total amount of the bill of consumers who spend more than 5 cubic meters per month. The discount will be applied exclusively on the first 5 cubic meters consumed. From this volume, the charge normally follows, according to the current rate.
In practice, a residence that consumes 20 cubic meters during the month will have the discount applied on the first 5 cubic meters. The other 15 cubic meters will be charged without the reduction. Therefore, the final impact on the value of the invoice may vary according to the consumption of each property.
Reduction appears in the October accounts
Although the reduction is already in force, consumers should perceive the change effectively in accounts due from October, referring to consumption recorded during September. Sanepar had appealed Agepar’s decision and was given a 30-day period to promote the necessary adjustments in the charging systems before the new tariff was applied.
According to the information disclosed, the reduction was made possible after Sanepar received approximately R$ 4 billion referring to a precautionary payment by the Federal Government. The discount will remain valid for 30 months and will be applied to consumers served by the company in the 344 municipalities covered by the measure.
