Day of the Bird highlights conservation and work at Parque das Aves in Paraná

Next Monday, October 5, is celebrated the Day of the Bird, a date dedicated to reinforcing the importance of the preservation of birds and the natural environments where they live. In Paraná, one of the main works aimed at the conservation of these species is developed by the Bird Park, in Foz do Iguaçu.

Considered one of the largest bird parks in Latin America, the space maintains a conservation center with a special focus on species from the Atlantic Forest, as well as acting in the reception and care of rescued animals.

Currently, the Bird Park is home to more than 1,400 animals of approximately 130 species. More than half of the animals kept in the site have a history related to rescues, reinforcing the institution’s work also in the recovery and animal welfare.

Conservation and care of species

The work carried out by the Bird Park involves veterinary monitoring, specialized management, adequate feeding for each species and conservation initiatives.

The space proposal is also to bring the public closer to Brazilian biodiversity and raise awareness about the importance of protecting birds, especially species found in the Atlantic Forest.

The Day of the Bird is celebrated annually in Brazil and serves as an opportunity to draw attention to problems that threaten different species, such as loss of habitat, trafficking of wild animals and impacts caused by human activity.
