Defense of young suspect in femicide in Ponta Grossa speaks out after attack on aunt and cousin. Women were hospitalized in serious condition.
The defense of a young man suspected of femicide in Ponta Grossa was on Saturday (31) about the investigation involving an 18-year-old boy, arrested after his aunt and cousin were stabbed during a family discussion in Jardim Cerejeiras, in the region of Colonia Dona Luiza. In a note sent to Portal BnT Online, lawyer Nathan Junior Basso Palhão said that he awaits the conclusion of the police investigation before presenting a detailed positioning.
The lawyer represents Erick Freitas Mayer, who is being investigated for the attack on Friday night. At the demonstration, the defender lamented the episode and expressed solidarity with the people involved and their families.
According to the note, the defense is monitoring the case and adopting the necessary measures to ensure the legal representation of the investigated.
The lawyer also stressed that he intends to analyze in full the elements gathered during the investigation before clarifying the facts.
For the time being, the defense said it would not provide further information, with respect to the parties involved and the progress of the investigation.
The Case
The incident was recorded at around 9 pm on Friday (30), when the Military Police were called to attend a situation of bodily injury in a residence at Jardim Cerejeiras, in Colonia Dona Luiza, in Ponta Grossa.
When they arrived at the property, the police found two women, aged 27 and 53, with injuries caused by a stabbing weapon.
According to police, the victims are the aunt and cousin of the young man investigated, who lived in the same property. The attack would have occurred after a family disagreement, but the specific motivation was not reported.
Teams of the Emergency Mobile Service (Samu) provided first aid and referred the two women to the Regional Hospital, linked to the State University of Ponta Grossa (HU-UEPG).
The victims were taken to the hospital unit in serious condition. No new information on the evolution of the clinical picture was provided.
The boy was arrested, and the case is investigated as suspected of a double attempted femicide.
Investigation is ongoing
The defense of Erick Freitas Mayer said it would await the conclusion of the police investigation and the analysis of the information gathered by the authorities to express itself in more detail.
So far, the note sent to the BnT Online does not present an alternative version on the dynamics of the occurrence.
The investigation should clarify the circumstances of the attack, its motivation and the suspect’s possible criminal responsibility.
The case remains under investigation and the final legal classification will depend on the elements gathered by the competent authorities.
