The Muralha Digital on Ponta Grossa will be one of the tools used by security forces to reinforce monitoring during the 2026 General Elections on Sunday (4). The system uses cameras installed in strategic points of the city and can help in the identification of suspicious situations in polling places and regions of large movement of people.

According to Guilherme Rangel, municipal secretary of Public Security and Citizenship of Ponta Grossa, teams of the Municipal Civil Guard (GCM) and the Superintendence of Traffic and Road Safety will have enhanced performance during the electoral period.

The tools of the Muralha Digital will support the work of the teams in identifying occurrences and possible irregularities.

Monitoring at strategic points

The cameras installed on Ponta Grossa are distributed taking into account intelligence information from the security forces. The monitoring includes regions close to major electoral colleges and public transport terminals.

Ponta Grossa has 258,079 eligible voters to participate in the 2026 elections, according to official data from Justiça Eleitoral.

“The Muralha Digital is a consolidated structure that will make a big difference so that we can have a peaceful and safe process for everyone,” says Guilherme Rangel.

The inspector-commander of the GCM, Alessandro de Macedo, informed that the performance of the municipal teams will be strengthened from this Saturday (3).

“We will work to prevent and curb criminal practices to ensure that elections go on in the best possible way,” he said.

System can assist in counting

According to the Municipal Secretariat of Public Security and Citizenship, the teams will remain in contact with Justiça Eleitoral to respond to complaints related to possible electoral crimes.

Among the situations cited are ballot boxes, purchase of votes and violation of the secrecy of voting.

In cases involving suspected irregular transport of voters, for example, the automatic reading of plates carried out by Muralha Digital can help in the identification of vehicles and their displacements.

The recordings may also be made available for investigations conducted by the responsible bodies, such as the Federal Police and the Electoral Prosecutor’s Office, when requested.

Military Police Strengthen Action

According to the commander of the 1st Military Police Battalion (1st BPM) in Ponta Grossa, Major Leandro Reis Rakovicz, the security of the polling places will be divided between the state and municipal forces.

As explained by the commander, state buildings and private establishments used as polling places will be monitored by the Military Police, while municipal spaces will be under the responsibility of the Municipal Civil Guard.

Agents should remain primarily in the outer perimeter of the polling stations and enter the premises when intervention is needed.

In rural areas, policing will be carried out through itinerant patrols.

The operation will also count, according to the 1st BPM, with specific teams for the electoral period and support of specialized units.

“If there is any request for police intervention in some place, it is these teams that will make the proper referral,” explains Rakovicz.

The commander also says that intelligence teams will be monitoring possible changes in the polling places, with support from units such as School Patrol, Road Police and Environmental Police.

Images can integrate investigations

Video monitoring can help in the reconstruction of situations investigated later by the authorities.

According to electoral lawyer Juliano Jaronski, the recordings can provide information such as timetables, movement of people, used vehicles and movements near the polling places.

He stresses, however, that the images are evidence and need to be analyzed in conjunction with other information during an investigation.

“In irregular transport, for example, the identification of a particular vehicle carrying out successive movements of voters, associated with other elements, can form a relevant set of evidence,” he says.

Jaronski also highlights the importance of preserving the original archive, including date, time and record integrity information.

Complaints during the elections

According to Major Leandro Reis Rakovicz, people caught by police in situations that characterize electoral infractions in Ponta Grossa may be referred to the Federal Police for appropriate procedures.

Complaints may also be presented to police teams who are in the polling places or by numbers 190, of the Military Police, and 153, of the Municipal Civil Guard.

Voting will be from 8 am to 5 pm

The first round of the 2026 General Elections takes place this Sunday, October 4. Voting will take place from 8 am to 5 pm, according to the official time of Brasilia. The TSE clarifies that voters who are in line at 5 p.m. will still be able to vote.

The voting location can be consulted by Justiça Eleitoral services, including Election Self-Service and the e-Title app.

Another important rule concerns the cell phone. The voter may not enter the voting booth carrying a phone, camera, video camera or equipment that may compromise the secrecy of the vote. The devices must be turned off and left in the place indicated by the receiving table before the voter goes to the ballot box.

On the day of the election, the individual and silent manifestation of the voter’s preference is allowed. The legislation, however, prohibits collective or noisy demonstrations and approaches aimed at persuading voters during the voting period.

With the reinforcement of security teams and the support of Muralha Digital in Ponta Grossa, monitoring will be expanded throughout the voting period in the city.
