Do you use seat belts on buses? Action in Ponta Grossa warns about risks in travel

The Paraná Motive held, on Tuesday (22), an awareness action on the importance of using the seat belt in buses in the Ponta Grossa bus station. The initiative is part of the schedule of the National Traffic Week, which runs until Friday (25), and also drew the attention of users to the risks of using the mobile phone at the wheel.

During the activity, passengers were given guidance on the importance of using seat belts during travel, a measure that can reduce the severity of the consequences of road accidents.

According to data from the Observatório Nacional of Road Safety, the use of the seat belt can reduce the risk of injuries by up to 70% and the risk of death of passengers by up to 40%.

The guidance reinforces the need to use safety equipment throughout the route, including on bus trips.

The use of the cell phone at the wheel was also the subject of action

In addition to guiding passengers on the use of seat belts in buses, the Paraná Motive addressed another behavior that poses a risk to road safety: the use of mobile phones while driving vehicles.

The theme is part of the campaign "In Transit, be just a driver", developed by the dealership during the National Traffic Week.

To demonstrate the risks associated with distraction, the company installed an interactive panel called "I already, I never" at the Ponta Grossa bus station.

The activity presented questions and answers that invited the participants to reflect on behaviors related to the use of the mobile phone while driving.

The proposal was to draw attention to situations that can compromise the concentration of drivers and increase the possibility of accidents.

According to the Brazilian Association of Traffic Medicine (Abramet), the use of the mobile phone at the wheel compromises the attention and reaction time of the driver.

Among the behaviors associated with distraction are the unexpected reduction in speed, the difficulty in maintaining the correct positioning of the vehicle on the road and the delay in activating the brakes in situations of risk.

National Traffic Week will have about 150 actions

The initiative carried out in Ponta Grossa integrates a programming developed by the Motiva highway concessionaires in different regions of Brazil.

Throughout the National Traffic Week, the company expects to carry out approximately 150 in-person actions aimed at raising awareness of drivers, passengers, motorcyclists, truckers and pedestrians.

The activities are distributed by the states of Paraná, São Paulo, Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro, Santa Catarina, Rio Grande do Sul and Mato Grosso do Sul.

The campaign also has guidelines on social networks, press announcements, electronic panels installed on highways and other communication equipment.

The initiatives are part of the platform "Sua Segurança nos moves", which aims to maintain a permanent calendar of educational actions aimed at accident prevention.

Paraná manages 569 kilometers of highways

The Paraná Motive is responsible for the concession of 569 kilometers of highways in the state, covering 21 municipalities.

The contract includes sections of the highways BR-369, BR-376, BR-373, PR-445, PR-170, PR-323 and PR-090.

Over the 30 years of concession, R$ 16 billion are planned in investments destined to the operation and improvement of road infrastructure, including works of duplication, deployment of contours and construction of additional tracks.

The dealership also develops awareness and education activities aimed at the safety of highway users.
