A dog rescued in Ponta Grossa after a report of possible ill-treatment mobilized teams of the Municipal Civil Guard (GCM) and the Reference Center for Animals at Risk (CRAR) on Wednesday (9). The care took place in Luiz Oliveira Silva Street, in Vila Margarida, Orphans region. The animal was very weak and showed signs of malnutrition.

According to information obtained on the spot by journalist Heryvelton Martins, the complaint was made by residents of the region, who triggered the teams after realizing the conditions in which the dog was.

The Municipal Civil Guard was at the address and spoke with the person in charge of the property and the animal. Initially, according to the information passed on, the tutor would have shown resistance in allowing the dog to be removed to receive veterinary care. After conversation with the teams, however, the entry of CRAR professionals was authorized.

The animal was taken out to receive care.

With the authorization, the GCM team entered the property and carried out the removal of the dog. The dog had a very weak physical condition, with appearance compatible with malnutrition, and was referred for evaluation and treatment.

To date, no details have been reported about the diagnosis, the animal’s current clinical status, or what procedures will be required for recovery. Due to the condition of the animal, the Environmental Patrol of the GCM carried out the Case Occurrence Bulletin.

Reports of mistreatment from neighbors

Residents of the region played an important role in attending to communicate the situation to the authorities. The complaint led the Municipal Civil Guard to the property, where the teams checked the condition of the dog and requested the support of the CRAR for evaluation and removal of the animal.

The situation should continue to be monitored by the responsible bodies to verify the circumstances in which the animal was kept.

The case continues to follow up

After the withdrawal, the priority is veterinary care and recovery of the dog.

To date, it has not been informed whether the animal will remain under the responsibility of the municipality during the treatment or what will be its destination subsequently.

The BnT monitors the case and will be able to update the matter as soon as there is new information about the animal’s health status and any measures taken against those responsible.
