Driver from Ponta Grossa injured in bus and truck accident in SP

A Ponta Grossa driver is injured in an accident involving a bus and a wagon in the early hours of Tuesday (8), on the Castello Branco Highway (SP-280), in Itu, inside São Paulo. According to information obtained by BnT Online, the truck driver suffered serious injuries, but without risk of life, and received medical attention still on site.

The collision occurred at km 71 of the highway, on the track direction capital of São Paulo. According to initial information, the bus hit the back of the wagon, which was carrying a load of sugar. Part of the product ended up falling on the track after the impact.

Despite the severity of the occurrence, the driver of the wagon, resident of Ponta Grossa, is not at risk of death. He was assisted by the rescue teams mobilized for the accident.

In all, eight people were injured in the crash. One of them was referred in a severe state to a Pronto Atendimento Unit (UPA). Four other victims suffered moderate injuries and were taken to health facilities in Sorocaba, including the Sorocaba Hospital Complex (CHS) and UPA Eden.

Three people had only abrasions and received assistance from the first responders at the site of the accident. Eighteen occupants of the vehicles involved were not injured.

According to the concessionaire Motiva Sorocabana, responsible for the administration of the Castello Branco Highway, the weather conditions were good at the time of the collision. The cause of the accident will still be investigated by the authorities.

After the occurrence, teams worked on cleaning the runway and removing the scattered materials. Until the update of the information, the sidewalk remained prohibited, but there was no record of congestion or major impacts on the traffic of the region.
