Educandário Manoel Ribas, in Castro, is undergoing renovation to receive Civil Defense, Unapi and departments of Social Assistance.
Educational Manoel Ribas, in Castro, undergoes renovation and adaptation to receive new departments and expand the structure of services offered to the population. The space, which currently houses the Guarda Mirim, should concentrate sectors of Social Welfare, Housing and Defesa Civil.
Among the services that will be installed in the property are the headquarters of Defesa Civil, the Open University for the Elderly (Unapi) and the Department of the Elderly and Racial Equality.
The interventions include the preparation of environments intended for public service, meeting and storage of materials used by the different sectors.
Council monitors progress of the works
The Social Housing Management Council of Castro carried out a technical visit to the Manoel Ribas Educational Center to monitor the progress of the adaptations.
The inspection took place on September 22 and was conducted by the municipal Secretary of Social Assistance, Günter Lesnau. During the visit, he presented to the councillors the distribution of the spaces and explained how the organization of the services in the property will be carried out.
According to the secretary, the change will allow to expand and structure the services carried out by the municipal teams.
The organization of the stocks kept on site was also presented, especially the materials destined for emergency situations.
“The materials intended for the Defesa Civil follow a flow of their own and are reserved exclusively for emergency situations and public calamity, according to the protocols and legal instruments of activation,” explained Günter.
The materials linked to the Municipal Secretariat of Social Assistance and to the Superintendence of Housing are used in meeting emergency demands of the community and in actions of the Revitalize Program.
The Revitalization Program Begins with Cras
During the meeting, the Secretary also detailed the operation of the Revitalize Program.
The first care to the families concerned takes place in the Reference Centers of Social Assistance (Cras). On site, the teams carry out the reception and an initial evaluation of the situation presented.
After the analysis and confirmation that the family meets the criteria established by the social assistance policy, the request is forwarded to the Superintendence of Housing, responsible for the continuity of the process.
“This flow is important for the care to take place in an organized way, with the necessary technical evaluation and within the criteria established by the program,” said the secretary.
Council highlights transparency
The president of the Municipal Housing Council, Natanael Vieira, stressed that the visit also strengthens the participation of the council in the monitoring of municipal public policies.
According to him, the initiative “amplifies the transparency and participation of civil society in the monitoring of housing and social assistance policies”.
With the completion of the reforms, the expectation is that the Educational Center Manoel Ribas will concentrate different municipal services in the same space, expanding the structure intended to attend to the population of Castro.
