Electoral Justice prepares 889 voting machines in Ponta Grossa for 2026 Elections

The Justiça Eleitoral prepares 889 electronic ballot boxes for the 2026 Elections in Ponta Grossa. According to the information passed on to BnT Online, of the total equipment separated for the electoral operation in the municipality, 56 will be kept as contingency ballot boxes, used for replacement in case any equipment presents a problem during the voting. With this, 833 urns are destined for the regular structure of the poll.

Ponta Grossa arrives in this year’s elections with 258,079 eligible voters, according to data released by the Paraná Regional Electoral Court (TRE-PR). The number places the municipality as the fourth largest electorate of the Paraná, behind only Curitiba, Londrina and Maringá.

City has 131 polling places

A survey based on the electoral data of the Superior Electoral Court indicates that Ponta Grossa has 131 polling places to meet the electorate. The term “voting place” is most appropriate, since, in addition to colleges and schools, other types of establishments can also receive electoral sections.

The electoral structure of the municipality is divided between the 14th, 15th and 139th electoral zones. The official schedule of the TRE-PR establishes that the work of preparation of the equipment in Ponta Grossa begins this Saturday, September 19, at 8am, at the Electoral Forum, located in Saint Hilaire Street, 187, in Workshops. The procedures are scheduled to follow by September 27.

Urns go through preparation and lacreation

Before being sent to the polling places, the ballot boxes undergo media generation, loading, testing and lacration procedures. In this stage are inserted the information necessary for the operation of the equipment, including the data of the electoral sections, candidates and eligible electorate.

Across the Paraná, 30,174 equipment will be used, of which 27,333 are destined for the electoral sections and 2,841 are available as contingency ballot boxes. The state has 27,333 polling stations in more than 4,800 polling stations.

Elections will be held in October

The first round of the 2026 General Elections will be held on October 4, from 8 am to 5 pm, by the time of Brasilia. This year, voters will vote for president, governor, two senators, federal deputy and state deputy. If a second round is needed in the disputes for president or governor, the new vote takes place on October 25.
