Elizabeth Schmidt goes to the streets to defend Julio Kuller for state deputy

The mayor of Ponta Grossa, Elizabeth Schmidt, announced that she will take to the streets to support Julio Kuller’s candidacy for state deputy in the final straight of the 2026 elections. According to the statement released, she intends to participate directly in the campaign of the PL candidate, who is part of the same political group as the Paraná government candidate, Sergio Moro.

Elizabeth's support for Kuller is not recent: the mayor had already publicly declared her preference for the candidacy in June. Kuller, who has graduated from the presidency of Câmara Municipal to contest the election, has presented the expansion of the political representation of Ponta Grossa and Campos Gerais in the Legislative Assembly as one of the main themes of his campaign.

In the new demonstration, Elizabeth states that she intends to intensify her participation in the campaign and relates Kuller’s support to the defense of municipal projects with the State Government. The mayor also stated that she will work for Moro’s candidacy for the Parana government.

Regionalization of health is among the priorities cited

One of the issues highlighted by Elizabeth is the expansion of the offer of specialized consultations, examinations and treatments in Ponta Grossa and Campos Gerais, to reduce the need for patients to travel to other cities.

Data from the Municipal Health Secretariat released in September show that, in August, 4,166 patients with Ponta Grossa used 133 bus trips for care outside the municipality. The survey had already been presented in a report by BnT Online on the debate around regionalization of health.

The mayor associates this demand with the health proposals defended by Kuller and Moro. In the material published, she cites the regionalization of care and a proposal related to the remuneration of the services provided by the Unified Health System (SUS). The measures are presented as policy proposals, not as changes already implemented.

Elizabeth Schmidt also charges resources for paving

Street paving is another theme mentioned by Elizabeth. The mayor states that the municipality submitted to the State projects with contributions expected to exceed R$ 100 million, destined for works in 24 villages of Ponta Grossa.

The set of projects was published by the City Hall itself in January 2026. At the time, the municipal administration reported that Vila Dayse had received authorization to advance in the hiring of a work with state resources. Throughout the year, the City Council also announced other paving projects with the participation of the Government of Paraná.

In the most recent statement, Elizabeth charges the release and execution of resources for streets that still await asphalt. The event does not detail which projects remain pending, nor the values already released or executed within the cited package.

Political support had already been announced

Julio Kuller disputes a seat in the Legislative Assembly for PL. In previous demonstrations, the candidate defended the expansion of specialized health services in the region and an action aimed at obtaining investments for the Campos Gerais.

With the new statement, Elizabeth informs that she intends to expand her participation in campaign activities. The positioning represents the mayor’s electoral support for a specific candidacy and does not, in itself, alter the institutional attributions of the City Hall or the Legislative Assembly.
