The prefeita Elizabeth Schmidt votes for Ponta Grossa on Sunday (4), in the Presidente Kennedy State College, and, before exercising the right to vote, highlighted the importance of expanding the political representativeness of Ponta Grossa and the Campos Gerais region in the Legislative Assembly, the Chamber of Deputies and the Federal Senate.

In a press interview, the mayor stated that she arrived at the polls with positive expectation and stressed the role of the elections in defining the direction of Paraná and Brazil.

"The day has come for us to exercise the right and citizenship that we all have to freely choose what will happen in the future of the country, the Paraná," Elizabeth said.

Representativeness of Ponta Grossa

One of the main points addressed by the mayor was the need for Ponta Grossa and Campos Gerais to expand their political force in decision spaces.

According to Elizabeth, the election of representatives linked to the city and the region can strengthen the defense of local interests both in the state legislature and in Brasilia.

“The ones here in our land are also very important to choose from, from the Campos Gerais region and the whole Paraná, because we need ever greater representativeness,” he said.

The mayor also said she considered it important that the Paraná have a strong bench in the Congresso Nacional, especially in the Senate and Chamber of Deputies.

In Elizabeth’s assessment, increasing the number of representatives aligned with the demands of the region may contribute to giving greater political weight to Campos Gerais in state and national discussions.

Support in the 2026 elections

During the interview, Elizabeth also reaffirmed her political support in Sunday’s election. The mayor declared support for Sergio Moro, candidate for the Government of Paraná by the PL, in addition to mentioning candidacies for the Senate and the Legislative.

She also commented on the situation involving Deltan Dallagnol, whose Senate candidacy went through a court dispute on the eve of the vote. Elizabeth criticized the episode and expressed support for the candidate.

On Sunday, the president of the Superior Electoral Court (TSE), Minister Kassio Nunes Marques, suspended the individual decision that had denied Dallagnol’s registration. With this, the candidacy returned to the condition of “deferred with appeal”, allowing the counting of votes until a new manifestation of the plenary of the Court.

“Very special day”

Speaking about the election moment, Elizabeth described Sunday as a “very special day” and said she trusted the participation of Paraná voters.

“It was an intense and long day for us, but that day has come and I think the people of Paraná will be able to choose the future of the Paraná,” he said.

After voting in the Presidente Kennedy College, in Ponta Grossa, the mayor informed that she intends to follow the rest of the day together with the political group of Sergio Moro.

The elections on Sunday define representatives for state deputy, federal deputy, two seats in the Senate, the Government of Paraná and the Presidency of the Republic.
