Estrada do Socavão will be closed in Lageado for an indefinite period in Castro
Emergency decision takes effect from 1 PM today (16th) due to serious risk of track sinking. Vehicle traffic will be diverted via Estrada do Cunhaporanga

In Castro, the Municipal Secretariat of Interior Infrastructure and Logistics issued an urgent warning on Wednesday morning (16): the Socavão Road will be banned indefinitely in the Lageado region, from 1 pm.
The total interdiction measure was adopted after technical inspections found serious problems of subsurface water percolation (intense infiltration of water into the soil below the pavement), which compromised the structure of the runway and caused episodes of soil sinking. On Tuesday (15), the road was blocked on two occasions by trucks that sank in the stretch.
“To ensure the safety of drivers and to restore the road bed, our teams will initiate heavy interventions on site, including the deployment of a deep drainage system for the removal of excess groundwater,” explains the secretary of the portfolio, Eleandro Campos.
Official Deviation Route
The guidance expressed to drivers and residents of the region is of redoubled attention to traffic. During the interdiction period, the vehicular deviation must be made by Estrada do Cunhaporanga.
Iapó River Recua and Residents Monitored as Displaced
Official measurements recorded at 7 a.m. on Wednesday point to the level of the Yapo River at 6.91 meters, marking a 20-centimeter retreat in the last 24 hours. The peak recorded in the current crisis occurred last Sunday (13), when the bed reached 7.23 meters.
With the gradual decrease in water, the reception situation also stabilized: the 11 people who needed to leave their homes at the beginning of the week chose to stay at the residence of relatives. With this, there are no citizens staying in the Pop House at the moment, all of them being accompanied by the teams of the Social Assistance Secretariat in the condition of evicts.
Nearly complete recovery in education
The Municipal Secretariat of Education resumed classrooms and school transportation on Wednesday (16) in almost all the educational units of the municipality.
Only three units of the field continue with the timetable temporarily suspended: São Luiz dos Machados, Tanque Grande and Tereza Casagrande Sguário (Paina). The forecast is for release for return on Thursday (17).

The Municipal Secretariat of Health informs important updates on the care network and the delivery of medicines:

The new headquarters will be located at Rua Comendador Manoel Inácio, 1196, Vila Rio Branco (old Rizolar building). The other health units in the urban area operate normally.
