Family of young person who underwent liver transplant in Ponta Grossa asks for help
Family of Esthefany, young person from Ponta Grossa who underwent liver transplant after cancer diagnosis, asks for help with household expenses

A chain of solidarity is mobilizing residents of Ponta Grossa in support of young Esthefany, who faced severe liver disease and underwent a transplant after being diagnosed with liver cirrhosis and hepatocarcinoma, a type of cancer that affects the organ. Now, the family seeks financial help to face the difficulties during the treatment and recovery period.
The campaign, called “Love Stream for Esthefany”, was created to raise funds for food, water bills, electricity and other essential expenses from the families of the young woman and her cousin Ana, who was compatible and made available to donate part of the liver.
A journey of struggle for life
Esthefany's story began to take on worrying contours as a child. At the age of five, she was diagnosed with hepatitis A and remained hospitalized for a week in the Children's Hospital, in Ponta Grossa. After improving, he was discharged from the medical service.
At the age of nine, however, new health problems began to emerge. The mother, Simone, sought medical attention, and the girl went through different specialists until she began follow-up with a gastroenterologist in Campo Largo.
In October 2024, Esthefany received the diagnosis of autoimmune hepatitis, a disease that led to the beginning of continuous treatment with medications.
Two months later, an ultrasound scan identified a 4.5-centimeter nodule in the liver. In January 2025, the young woman underwent a biopsy to investigate the alteration.
Diagnosis of cancer and need for transplantation
In February 2026, Esthefany was able to start her follow-up at Hospital Pequeno Príncipe in Curitiba, where she underwent a series of examinations.
After the evaluations, the medical team identified that the young woman's liver had cirrhosis and a nodule of hepatocarcinoma. Given the severity of the condition, isolated removal of the tumor was not considered a viable alternative, and liver transplantation was indicated.
The news completely changed the routine of the family, which began to face a battle marked by consultations, examinations, hospitalizations and uncertainties.
In the midst of the difficulties, a hope arose: the possibility of performing the transplant with a living donor. The cousin Ana was available for the exams and had the compatibility confirmed in the first evaluation.
The procedure was scheduled for October 19, 2026, after having been previously rescheduled for health-related issues of Esthefany. As reported in the most recent solidarity mobilization, the young woman has already undergone the transplant and continues to need support during her recovery.
Family faces financial difficulties
In addition to health-related challenges, the family also faces financial difficulties due to unemployment.
According to family members, all medical costs related to transplants, hospitalizations, medicines and other health procedures are being covered by the Unified Health System (SUS).
Therefore, the collection is not intended to pay for surgery or medical treatment, but exclusively to help the household expenses of the families of Esthefany and Ana, who need financial support at this delicate time.
The objective is to ensure conditions for family members to be able to keep their accounts up to date, buy food and face the recovery period with more tranquility.
