Father and daughter from Castro take action after being called to the World Kickboxing Championship in Uzbekistan

The sport will be on the world stage. The coach and wrestler Rodrigo Silva Carneiro dos Passos was summoned as technical assistant of the Seleção Brasileira of Kickboxing by the CBKB - Brazilian Confederation of Kickboxing, and his daughter, Livia Fietkoski dos Passos, 14 years old, was summoned as an athlete to compete in the World Cup of Kickboxing, in Uzbekistan, which takes place from October 13 to 18. For the trip, actions for costing are being carried out by the family.

The competition is organized by WAKO, the world’s largest Kickboxing organization, and is considered the highest point in a Kickboxing athlete’s career.

Livia will compete in two modalities: KICK LIGHT and LIGHT CONTACT. The expectation is of keys with 12 to 16 opponents, being necessary from 4 to 5 fights to conquer the title in each category, usually with one mode contested per day.

The summons crowns a perfect year. Livia participated from all the national and international calendar and was champion in everything she played: Paraná champion, Brazilian champion, Paraná Cup champion, Brazil Cup champion, Paraná Combate champion and South American champion.

In an interview, Rodrigo highlighted the preparation. "Our preparations have been going on since the beginning of the year, where we have been through all the national level competitions and also the South American championship, where Livia has been champion in all. We are reaching the highest point of an athlete’s career, which is a campeonato mundial of the largest Kickboxing organization in the world, which is WAKO. It’s all very young, especially for her, who is 14 years old and started now in competitions. But we have been preparing very well, we have a whole team that has been dedicated a lot to extracting the best from it as an athlete," he said.

The history of the duo with the sport is old. Rodrigo has an extensive career, with more than 100 Kickboxing fights. Owning the academy and living from the struggle, he saw his daughter grow up on the mat.

"Livia has been training with me since I was 5 years old. Since we have an academy and live by fighting, she started by joking, accompanying me, coming to play on the mat. Two years ago, he aroused the desire to compete and has been standing out on the national stage," said Rodrigo.

Travel and Costing Actions

Now, the challenge is out of the mat. The total value of the trip for the two - athlete and technician - revolves around R$ 30,000, including air ticket, accommodation, registration and food. All the cost comes out of the family pocket.

To make the dream possible, they have promoted several solidarity actions.

"We have been doing actions like cows, we are doing a martial arts festival here to raise money, we are making Mexican beans, we are receiving donations, we are also open to companies that want to join their brand so we are going to this event," explained Rodrigo.
