Father is arrested after making the child hostage in Paraná, he was detained by the Military Police on Tuesday (8), in Fazenda Rio Grande, in the Metropolitan Region of Curitiba. The man, who was in an outbreak, kept his own son, a 2-year-old child, inside a vehicle under threat. The girl was rescued without injuries after a crisis management action carried out by police teams.

According to information from the Paraná (PMPR) Military Police, the incident began after the man showed aggressive behavior and attacked his wife and neighbors using two knives. After the initial situation, he would have placed his daughter inside a silver Chevrolet Meriva and left the site.

Soon after, residents activated security forces informing that there was a vehicle stopped in the middle of the road, on the other hand, with a man and a child inside. The suspect had injuries and remained inside the car.

Teams of the 17th Military Police Battalion (BPM) were mobilized to attend the situation. The place was isolated and the police began the negotiation process, seeking to preserve the life of the child and avoid a higher risk intervention.

During the service, a team from the Special Operations Battalion (BOPE) was activated to assist in the management of the crisis. According to PMPR, after the negotiation work, the man decided to surrender.

The police then conducted the containment using a lesser-offensive incapacitating device, known as a Taser.

The child was safely removed from the vehicle and received medical attention from a team of the Mobile Emergency Service (SAMU). According to the police, she had no injuries.

The man also received medical attention before being referred to the bodies responsible for the appropriate legal measures.

Support of the Falcon and performance of the teams

During the incident, the Falcon helicopter of the Paraná Military Police assisted in monitoring the situation. As reported by the corporation, there were communication difficulties between the teams and high risk due to the presence of a knife inside the vehicle.

The aircraft approached the site and members of the air crew assisted in the organization of the isolation and in contact with the teams on the ground.

After the progress of the negotiations and the arrival of the specialized professionals, the situation was controlled without the child or other people being injured.

The case will be accompanied by the responsible authorities, who must ascertain all the circumstances of the occurrence.
