Felipe was in a boat accompanied by another man when the boat turned over during a fishing trip. The accident occurred in the Vila de Uvaia region, near the bridge of Rio Tibagi and BR-373.
The other occupant of the boat, 28, managed to get out of the water and reach a nearby residence, where he called for help and activated the emergency teams.
Felipe was carried away by the current
According to information obtained by the BnT Online on the spot on the day of the occurrence, after the boat turned, Felipe would have initially remained clinging to the boat. However, the Rio Tibagi was with high volume of water and strong current. Felipe eventually went down the river and was never seen again.
Since then, rescue teams have been conducting searches along the river.
Boat has already been found
During the work carried out on the first day of the occurrence, the boat used by the two men was located by the teams. Philip, however, was not near the boat. The location of the boat caused the teams to expand the work along the course of the Rio Tibagi, taking into account the direction and strength of the current recorded at the time of the accident.
Firefighters remain at the scene
On Friday, Firefighters teams are still at the site, continuing the search for the 30-year-old man. This marks the fourth consecutive day since the disappearance. Until the last update of this report, Felipe Van Ryn had not yet been located.
