The free electoral propaganda ends on Friday (23) throughout Brazil, ending the broadcast of the programs of the presidential candidates of the Republic on radio and television. The measure follows the timetable established by the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) for the second round of the 2026 elections, which takes place on Sunday, October 25.

With the closure of electoral hours, the candidates Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) and Flávio Bolsonaro (PL) stop counting on the free space in the broadcasters to present proposals, publicize their campaigns and ask votes directly to the voters.

Propaganda for the second round began on October 9, after the definition of the candidates who advanced in the presidential contest. During this period, both participants were entitled to the same exposure time, according to the rules of Justiça Eleitoral.

How did election propaganda work in the second round?

In the Paraná, where the dispute for the State Government was defined in the first round, free propaganda was concentrated in the presidential election.

According to the Regional Electoral Court of Paraná (TRE-PR), the programs were shown daily, from Monday to Saturday, in two schedules on the radio and another two on television.

On the radio, the broadcasts took place from 7 a.m. to 7 a.m. and from 12 a.m. to 12 a.m. On television, the programs were broadcast from 1 p.m. to 1:10 p.m. and from 8:30 p.m. to 8:40 p.m.

Each candidate received five minutes in each block. In addition, the campaigns featured advertisements distributed throughout the broadcasters’ programming.

The purpose of free electoral time is to ensure space for candidates to present their proposals and information to voters, following criteria established by the legislation.

What is still allowed in the campaign until Sunday?

Although the free election propaganda ends on Friday, some campaign activities may still be held on Saturday, the day before the vote.

According to the electoral calendar of TSE, the distribution of graphic materials, such as leaflets and leaflets, may take place until Saturday. Also allowed, within the legal limits, walks, walks and carriages.

On the other hand, the deadline for the holding of rallies ended on Thursday (22). The paid or boosted circulation of electoral propaganda on the internet also had its final deadline on October 22.

The paid disclosure of electoral announcements in the written press, respecting the legal limits, may occur until Friday (23).

The restrictions seek to organize the closure of the campaign and ensure compliance with electoral rules before the vote.

Ponta Grossa voters return to the polls on Sunday

In Ponta Grossa and other municipalities of Campos Gerais, voters return to the polls on Sunday (25) to choose the president of the Republic.

In Paraná, there will be no vote for governor in the second round, since the state dispute was closed in the first stage of the elections.

Voting takes place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., following the official time of Brasilia.

In order to vote, the voter must appear at his or her electoral section with an official photo ID. The e-Title application can also be used as an identification document when presenting the voter’s photograph.

The Justiça Eleitoral recommends consulting the polling place in advance, especially in cases where there has been a change of section or electoral address.

The presidential debate also marks the final straight of the election

In addition to the closure of free propaganda, this Friday will be marked by the last presidential debate before the second round.

Lula and Flávio Bolsonaro participate in a confrontation promoted by TV Globo, with a scheduled start at 21:20 and mediation by journalist César Tralli.

The meeting will be one of the last opportunities for candidates to discuss proposals and answer questions in a joint broadcast before the vote.

With the end of the campaign approaching, attention is turned to voter participation and the counting of votes on Sunday, when the next president of Brazil will be defined.
