Frontal collision between truck and Gol leaves driver dead on PR-092

A serious accident on the PR-092 at Arapoti resulted in the death of a 36-year-old man on Thursday. The frontal collision involving a Scania truck and a Volkswagen Gol occurred at around 11:40 am, at km 234+600 meters of the highway, on the stretch between Arapoti and Calógeras.

According to information from the State Highway Police (PRE), the Scania P340 truck, with Canoas (RS) plates, followed the PR-092 in the direction Arapoti–Calógeras. The vehicle, driven by a 63-year-old man, was docked to a Facchini semi-trailer, with plates from Caxias do Sul (RS).

When reaching the km 234+600 meters, due to circumstances that will have to be determined, the set was involved in a frontal collision with a VW Gol, with plates of Arapoti, which went in the opposite direction. The car was attached to a Loading trailer, also registered with Arapoti.

Driver died at the scene

The driver of the Gol, a 36-year-old man, suffered serious injuries and did not resist. The death was still at the scene of the accident.

After the procedures of the teams responsible for attending to the occurrence and forensics, the body of the victim was referred to the Medical-Legal Institute (IML) of Telêmaco Borba.

The driver of the truck, 63, was not injured.

The State Road Police carried out the accident service and raised the preliminary information on the dynamics of the collision. The exact circumstances that caused the accident must still be clarified.

The case was registered by the team of the 5th Company of the Road Police Battalion, from the station of Piraí do Sul.
