The councilor of Ponta Grossa Geraldo Stocco, candidate for state deputy in the elections of 2026, stated that he intends to take to the Legislative Assembly of Paraná (Aleppo) the work of supervision developed in the municipality and expand the political representativeness of Ponta Grossa and Campos Gerais. The statements were given during an interview with BnT Online, within the special series with candidates from this year’s elections.

In explaining the reasons that led him to contest a seat in the Assembly, Stocco said that one of the main concerns is to increase the political presence of the region in the state legislature. “We are not afraid to face big issues and we want to defend Ponta Grossa and the Campos Gerais region,” he said during the interview.

According to him, the intention is to expand the action already carried out in the municipal legislature, including the search for resources for the region.

Monitoring appears as the main flag

Stocco pointed to the oversight of public money as one of his main proposals for a possible state mandate. The candidate cited as examples of his work in Ponta Grossa the supervision of school snacks and third party companies, in addition to mentioning the defense of the animal cause.

The councilman also stated that he intends to keep a close relationship with the population. According to Stocco, knowing the problems faced by the communities is fundamental for parliamentary action.

During the interview, he recalled that he began his approach to politics as an intern of Câmara Municipal and said that, since his first candidacy in 2016, he seeks to bring the political exercise closer to the people and broaden the channels of participation of the population.

Health is a priority

Another point highlighted by the candidate was public health. Stocco criticized the waiting time faced by patients for consultations, examinations and the start of specialized treatments.

He said a mandate in the Assembly would allow for more direct intercourse with state schools, universities and medical specialty services. The candidate stated that he intends to receive greater attention from the State Government for Ponta Grossa and the municipalities of the region.

Stocco also advocated that state deputies maintain dialogue with municipalities regardless of party or electoral differences. For him, the role of the parliamentary must involve the articulation between the municipalities, the State Government and the Federal Government to enable investments and public policies.

Political partnership with Aliel Machado

During the interview with the BnT, Geraldo Stocco also spoke about his political relationship with federal deputy Aliel Machado, with whom he is an ally. Stocco said he was encouraged by Aliel to contest his first election to the council in 2016 when he won a seat in the Câmara Municipal with 1,628 votes. The candidate also highlighted the result obtained in the 2024 municipal elections, when, according to him, he became the most voted councillor in the history of Ponta Grossa.

In defending the partnership, Stocco cited investments in the health area in Ponta Grossa, mentioning the new tower of Hospital Universitário and investments made in Santa Casa. The statements about the investments were presented by the candidate himself during the interview.

For the 2026 elections, Stocco said he intends to work jointly with Aliel, who is vying for a seat in the Federal House while he runs for the Legislative Assembly.

Second attempt for the Assembly

This is not the first time that Geraldo Stocco is vying for the position of state deputy. According to the candidate, in the previous election he received 15,025 votes in the region.

Stocco said he comes to the 2026 contest with more political experience and greater knowledge of the electorate, especially after the performance achieved in the 2024 municipal elections. He expressed his expectation that Ponta Grossa will be able to expand its representation in the Legislative Assembly of Paraná.

The full interview integrates the special coverage of BnT Online on the Elections 2026, which presents candidates, proposals and positions of the names that compete for elective positions in Paraná.
