GETAM seizes about 8 kg of marijuana during stop in Ponta Grossa

GETAM seized 8 kg of marijuana in Ponta Grossa during the approach of a vehicle on Monday night (5), in Rua Paraguaçu, in the Contorno region. The incident was recorded around 8 p.m., after officers identified an irregularity in the rear plate of the car.

According to the information of the occurrence, a team of the GETAM Alfa of the Municipal Civil Guard, was conducting ostensible patrols in the region when it decided to board the vehicle. The inspection began after the officers noticed an irregularity related to the rear identification plate.

During the approach and verification of the car, the agents reported having noticed a strong characteristic odor of marijuana-like substance coming from the interior of the vehicle. Given the situation, the team carried out a more detailed investigation.

Backpack with tablets found in vehicle

During the search, the agents located a backpack that contained several tablets and portions of a substance with similar characteristics to marijuana.

After the seizure, the material was weighed and totaled approximately eight kilograms. The drug was divided between tablets and different pieces found inside the backpack.

The incident resulted in the arrest of the person being approached. The identity of the suspect was not disclosed in the information released about the case.

Suspect and material were forwarded to the police station

After GETAM seized about 8 kg of marijuana, the suspect received a voice of arrest and was referred to the police station responsible for attending the occurrence.

The vehicle used at the time of the approach was also taken to the police unit, along with all the material seized, for the procedures provided for by law.

The occurrence will be under the responsibility of the police authority, which must follow up the investigations to clarify the origin of the drug, the possible destination of the material and other circumstances related to the case.

The case is now under investigation and other measures taken by the competent authorities.
