The Memories of Telêmaco Borba and the stories of residents who participated in the formation of the municipality will be highlighted in a meeting promoted on September 12, at Unifateb. The program will have as one of the main highlights the work “Memories of the formation of a people: from the New City to Telêmaco Borba”, developed by the Chronos Group from the accounts of pioneers and characters that do not always appear in the traditional records of history.

The proposal of the work is to present the development of Telêmaco Borba from a different perspective from that normally found in official encyclopedias and records. Instead of focusing the narrative only on high-profile personalities, the researchers sought to listen to residents who also helped, each in their own way, in the construction of the municipality.

Stories of those who helped build Telêmaco Borba

To develop the work, the members of the Chronos Group used the memories and experiences of pioneers and residents considered by the collective as characters often “invisible” in historical records.

According to researcher Edna Beltrão, each pioneer has his own motivations and experiences. From these stories, the group voluntarily assumed the commitment to develop a historiographical work aimed at the preservation of local memory.

The initiative seeks to justify reports of everyday life, family experiences, transformations of the city and different perspectives on the formation of society of Telêmaco Borba.

Regional history will be theme of meeting at Unifateb

The program for September 12 also aims to broaden the debate beyond the Telêmaco Borba Memories. The meeting will focus on the dissemination of regional history and will have the participation of partners linked to literature, arts and cultural preservation.

Among the participants will be the Ponta-Grossense Academy of Letters and Arts (APLA), which will take advantage of the event to promote discussions and disseminate the work of authors and artists involved in the valorization of regional history.

For Cinthia Celene Benck, a member of the Chronos Group, expanding the population’s access to this knowledge is fundamental.

“Regional history is a subject little known to the general population, and for this very reason, its dissemination and discussion is necessary,” he points out.

Tropeirismo, popular culture and yerba mate

In addition to the stories directly related to the formation of Telêmaco Borba, the meeting will make room for other elements that helped to build the identity of the Paraná and the Campos Gerais.

The tropeirismo, manifestations of popular culture and the traditional yerba-mate will be among the topics addressed during the programming.

The proposal is to bring together different aspects of regional history and reinforce the importance of preserving not only great events, but also memories, customs and experiences of the people who participated in the construction of the cities of Paraná.

With this, the meeting at Unifateb aims to transform individual memories into instruments for the preservation of the collective identity of Telêmaco Borba and the region.
