Expansion of the Holandese Immigration Memorial in Castrolanda plans new spaces, accessibility and cultural infrastructure in Castro
The Dutch Immigration Memorial, located in the Castrolanda Cultural Center, in Castro, will be expanded with new spaces intended for the public and the cultural and operational activities of the institution. The initiative seeks to prepare the complex for the growth of visitation and actions developed on site.
The first phase of the project contemplates the expansion of the support areas, with the implementation of new spaces, accessible sanitary facilities, warehouses, canopy, kitchen and other structures necessary for the functioning of the activities carried out by the Castrolanda Cultural Center.
According to the project, the proposal is to provide mais conforto, accessibility and quality in attending visitors, in addition to offering better conditions for the realization of events, educational actions and cultural initiatives.
Project preserves the identity of the Immigrant Mill
The extension was planned to maintain the architectural features that are part of the identity of the Dutch Immigration Memorial, especially the De Immigrant Mill, one of the main symbols of the presence of the Dutch community in Castrolanda.
At the same time, the project aims to increase the capacity of the institution in the cultural, educational, tourist and social areas, following the growth of the activities promoted by the Cultural Center.
The initiative also seeks to prepare the Memorial for the coming years, reconciling the preservation of the history of Dutch immigration with new structures to receive residents, tourists, students and groups visiting the space.
